Q's on tuning carb

Frostback Ditch /

Recently there have been several performance parts introduced for the Suzuki FA50 that I will be interested in getting (mostly the exhaust and a few homemade things), and I have found that Dellorto jets swap into the main jet on my carb.

My question is this, I'd just like to know what my tuning range will be seeing as I can only run a stock pilot jet, so I will only be playing with the needle and main jet. Will the tuning of the main jet make much of a difference? What problems may arise? I'd like to be able to tune the carb at will as I was actually able to seize my bike at during the blood drive, and a dellorto swap looks like it would be hella fun to make fit.......Oh, and I will be swapping the oil injection out and going straight pre-mix, so no worries about not enough oil. Thanks in advance.

Bumpity, anyone got any words of advice?

Re: Q's on tuning carb

i'd like to know more about this stuff too. i just put a new OEM carb on my fa50. i've also mulled over the idea of using a different carb and getting rid of the oil injection...where have you seen performance parts? a couple years ago (before my ped's death and recent resurection) there was absolutely nothing for the fa50 anywhere except stock parts.

oh, and, hi! this is my first post.

Check up treatsHQ on ebay, Benji has some Simonini exhausts for the FA50. I was also talking to a gentleman from Quarter Kick who was saying that there is a big bore kit thats being made for our nopeds as well, can't remember the make though. The problem is, to do a big bore kit you'd want to upgrade the carb.

Re: Q's on tuning carb

dellorto carbs seem like an option, i'd do more research but my eyelids are growing heavy and i still need to pack for a weeklong trip to a land with no web access.

Ya, but with those it looks like you'd have to do a custon intake, then run the chance of having to remove your reed valves. I'll look into that as well. Hope you enjoy your trip kevin.

Re: Q's on tuning carb

you would have to make a new manifold, or at least an adapter. there isn't much space in there by the fender either. i know some people have done this, but i don't know if there would be anything that you could just bolt right on. i'll do some looking around when i have a chance.
