Puch Maxi Luxe-Hi Torque

OK...heres the deal.

All along I was thinking my Maxi Luxe had a head gasket...just pulled it off and it does not...aluminum against aluminum. I was going to pull out the gasket and sand the head down just a little bit to get better compression...not sure I should do this now. I have no clue what the compression was before I pulled off the head.

Is this a hi comp head? Keep in mind this is a Maxi Luxe 1.5 hp. Is there anything I can do to make it MORE hi comp?

It all looks pretty black in there and I plan to clean it out with carb cleaner. Will the cleaning help performance?

Re: Puch Maxi Luxe-Hi Torque

It depends on whether you have a hi-compression cylinder head, or a regular cylinder head. Don't mess with a high compression head. A regular head you can sand down though. Post a picture of the underside of your cylinder head, and we can tell you whether it's a high-comp head or not.

If your exhaust port is reduced in size due to carbon deposits, then cleaning it will help performance.

Re: Puch Maxi Luxe-Hi Torque

Wrong. Clearly a hi-comp head.

regular head is on the setup on the top cylinder, high compression head on the cylinder on the bottom.

Re: Puch Maxi Luxe-Hi Torque

WOW. Much smaller combustion chamber on the high-torque.

JON WIENS WHY YOU NO COME HERE AND RIDE YET?

Re: Puch Maxi Luxe-Hi Torque

I think there is slot to do with the piston and cylinders on the stock setup. If you have a head with a large volume and swap it out with one of lower volume, regardless of the cylinder, your c/r goes up. That's a low comp head.
