polini break in method

i know this is a topic that has been discussed at length. but here is another question regarding break ins. could i theoretically run my bike on the kickstand all day. if i were to turn the idle way up to what it would be running around 20mph. the only problem i could possibly see with this is if it got to hot. i'm living at close to 9300ft and it's generally pretty cool up here. so, on a cool day, run a few tanks of gas through it and occasionally rev it up to 30mph. is this a good idea? i have a buddy that did it up here, and his bike seems to be broken in perfectly

Re: polini break in method

Dude,

Just ride it. It doesn't take that long to do, just make sure you aren't running too lean. Run way rich on the jet if you want to be sure. I broke mine in on motul 800 at about 32 to 1, which some say is a no no to use synthetic, but whatever, no problems at all here. I think I did a half ass break in on it, and have never ever had any problems and am on the second season. Every time I have taken off the cylinder and looked at it, it is smooth as can be. Just don't be stupid about it.

Re: polini break in method

The idea of break in is to vary the rpm as well, and if you wanted to attempt this, you should have some kind of fan cooling the engine. Just ride it.

Re: polini break in method

worst idea ever, just ride it and tune and go easy till its tuned correctly. all that break-in 12 step program stuff is bullshit.

Re: polini break in method

Also, idling and revving on the stand are totally different than riding it, because when you're riding it, the engine is actually having to pull a load, which makes it work harder. Whereas, on the stand, all it's doing is increasing the speed that the rear wheel is spinning in the air.

Re: polini break in method

How can you NOT ride that Polini?!
