vespa ninja pipe: spring mount?

okay, i need some help mounting a vespa ninja pipe i just got from treats.

the pipe just came with a spring and no clamp. is this normal? my stock pipe was clamped (with the clamp welded to the pipe). the pipe fits nice, but i am not sure where to attach the other end of the spring (the end not attached to the pipe). any clues?

the pipe clears the kickstand, and i am going to weld two pedal shafts together to get the pedal arm to clear the chamber.

poop. i was hoping the pedals cleared the chamber :(

ill get mine on monday i think, i dunno till then

Re: vespa ninja pipe: spring mount?

they miiiiight clear on a ciao. i am putting it on a variated newer tfr, and i think the newer tfrs have their pedals a little further back.

oh

im putting it on a grande.

Re: vespa ninja pipe: spring mount?

i've only seen it on a ciao, and it looks like the pedals had to be removed. :(

i just got this today

mounting is tricky and you lose all (grande) pedal function.

spring kinda has a home on the subframe, still deciding final location.

need a bracket for the back mount, it should be a clamp style mount like on moby dopplers (on the grande frame)

its a high rev pipe, id say something similar to a simonini boost, its hard to reach with a 64cc kit and a stock variator. I think lightening of the variator weights and tighter clutch springs is the remedy for this to work on even the small kits.

Re: vespa ninja pipe: spring mount?

looks like you've got the same set up as i do.

i've got a 64cc parmakit and the stock variator too. i'm thinking about getting the malossi multivar....

i picked up a seat post mount to use as a clamp. i also welded two pedal shafts together to keep pedal capability. the extension is pretty massive though. i'll post pics tomorrow.

yup 64 parmakit here.

im going to try taking out some weights this week, see how that changes things.

Re: vespa ninja pipe: spring mount?

pics delayed until tomorrow. i decided to take the shafts to get welded instead of welding myself, and the dude welded the extension on to the wrong side of the pedal shaft. >.<

what was top speed on your ped w/ this configuration, pre tuning?

did you drill out your intake, port match, and are you running a 13/13 carb? also, what jetting are you running? last time i ran my ped was pre kit, new exhaust, variator, si rear wheel, and new crank shaft. needless to say, a lot has changed on it so the current jetting will be way off.

70 jet on a 12.12 carb, no case matching no intake drilling.

i get up to like 35-36, but my belt is worn the fuck out. downhill i will kick into the powerband and get up to 40+ tho.

Re: vespa ninja pipe: spring mount?

sweet. i saw that you took 2 weights out of the variator. would you recommend this?

yes, for the ninja pipe you need to take at least 2 weights, im going to take 3 out tomorrow.

also grind down the copper bushing sticking out for amazing top speeds.

youve got the parmakit too, so i know youve got the revs to push -2 weights. -3 i dunno yet.

Re: vespa ninja pipe: spring mount?

what copper bushing? on the variator?

Re: vespa ninja pipe: spring mount?

is there a thread somewhere else about grinding the stock vespa variator bushing? pics?

Re: vespa ninja pipe: spring mount?

any updates on this? So it clears kickstand, but pedals need to be extended. What about on a stock cylinder, no good?
