ZA50 65cc Metrakit Remove Nub

I hear a rumor that there is a "rectangular nub" that needs to be filed/ground down on the case of a za50 when installing a 65cc metrakit. Where is this "rectangular nub"? Is it the triangular nubs at the bottom of the jug next to the ports? Attached are photos of the case.

Re: ZA50 65cc Metrakit Remove Nub

i though it was on the intake.

Re: ZA50 65cc Metrakit Remove Nub

Intake eh?

You don't mean the oil injection hump?

I popped that boy off and fabbed a cover plate and a intake manifold so clearance is not an issue there. (attached photo)

I put the kit together with all the base gaskets (3 metal + 2 paper) along with a head gasket and stock 50cc head. Tested rotation to make sure there was no binding or piston/head contact, all was good. I just got paranoid that there might be some overlooked item that would cause it to eat itself.

nice!

ZA50 65cc Metrakit Remove Nub

From what I have read, only some za50 cases have this nub. When my brother and I installed his metra65 his case did indeed have this notorious nub. It was in the way enough that it would stop the piston from full travel. I guess my point is that if your case had this nub it would be plainly obvious because it would stop your piston from making its full stroke. You should be good.

Yes, ZA50's do have a little tab on the bottom center of the case. Though, i have not tried to remove so, i cant give any advice there but i know it does exist.

Re: ZA50 65cc Metrakit Remove Nub

It looks like yours has been removed already though

Re: ZA50 65cc Metrakit Remove Nub

Awesome!

One less thing I need to do.

Re: ZA50 65cc Metrakit Remove Nub

make sure it's big enough for that kit to clear though!!!!

Re: ZA50 65cc Metrakit Remove Nub

yeah, i guess i was talking about the oil injection hump. i've never opened up a za, so i wasnt really sure. i had just heard stories of a "hump".
