Anyone notice their bikes lacking a top end? we should be able to wind the piss out of these engines just like any others.
since ive run my kit, ive felt no top end power increase, or major top speeds.
i go to advance my timing, and i find some external pick-up outside the flywheel that reads a raised section of steel between Top dead center.the pickup is directly connected to the CDI box, and kills the spark when removed, also the stater is the same as the A35, but a different back plate, aka up-side down.
so first I try advancing the timing by rotating the stator, no dice. try removing the external pickup, no spark. hook a timing light up to my Tomos, run it after finding TDC and find this.
low RPMs the Timing is Auto-Advanced by the CDI, But At Higher RPMs the Ignition becomes retarded by the CDI.
we have no control over the timing of a A55. and in theory this CDI is Robbing us of RPMS and Crucual Power at the top end of our game.
so next, i ran jumper wires off a old a35 CDI to my bike, and it got spark, but none-the-less ran backwards because of the new postition of the Stater. kept messing the the stater until it ran super advanced(the stater cant be put in the original position like in A35's. after that i got rained on and gave up on my crusade against Rev limiters.
going to transplant a whole Ignition sytem ASAP and report my findings, please help me figure this bad-boy out. i beleive, and will be documenting proof as soon as i get the chance that this is the rev limiter upon the new A55 engine.
