exhausts, stevesmoped.com, suggestions...

been looking for an exhaust for my 2008 tomos ST with the A55 engine. im thinking about the tecnigas next R raw, as shown here; at steves moped. does anyone with an ST or sprint have one of these on their peds? it says on the site they are compatible but ive only heard people with the targas using them. also is steves moped a reliable place to order from? i remember seeing them at the mopedshop.com but they are no longer listed so they must have sold out. anyone know where else i can find one of these pipes? thanks for any and all input.

Re: exhausts, stevesmoped.com, suggestions...

I have a technigas R on my 04 sprint which has an a35 engine. Assuming the pipes produce the same powerban on the newer engines... I love it, its a great pipe. It has better low and mid range power than pipes like the bi-turbo and bullet, and only slightly less top end. An awsome all around piep. So if your looking for something like that, its the way to go. With my airsal kit and all my other mods it takes hills like a champ; holds speed well on the hill, and I've taken monster hills that used to make me pedal at 25mph.

This is just my personal opinion and testimony. There are endless debates as to which pipe is "the best", but its best to just do some research and searching on how they perform, and fit the pipe peformance to your particular need.

Re: exhausts, stevesmoped.com, suggestions...

oh and they should fit on both targa and sprint models, they are almost exactly the same. you shouldnt have too much diffuculty putting it on. It mostly a bolt on, though sometimes you may need to put a few washers in on the exhaust mount bracket to make clearences from things like the shocks.

As far as steves, ive never done business with him. But there are lots of other place you can call or go to online to see if they have any....1977mopeds.com, heeters, handybikes, mopedhospital, ikesbikes, maybe treats ebay store too.

Re: exhausts, stevesmoped.com, suggestions...

thanks for your input. anyone else know if this pipe will for sure fit an 08 ST with the A55? and if steves moped shop is the only place i can find one?

Re: exhausts, stevesmoped.com, suggestions...

it says it will

yes it works.

Re: exhausts, stevesmoped.com, suggestions...

good luck finding that pipe for a good price though - it seems like right now everyone has it for expensive (steves) or out of stock (everywhere else)

seriously, do a google search for that pipe (and include "cart" or something to filter out entries that talk about it but arent selling it), and everywhere that sells it for cheaper than steve does (lowest i saw is 115 or something at some weird dj shop) is out of stock - just call any one of them to find out.

call steve's beforehand just to make sure they're in stock.

(i had an order in at mopeshop for one on may 29, and just cancelled my order at the beginning of this week because it's been in a perpetual state of "hopefully it'll come in soon" - it should be noted that this isn't mopedshop's fault, and i've had really good experiences with them)

just for comparison, they were selling it for 140

i think steve is selling it for 189?

i'm totally jewish (literally), but if someone's offering it for significantly cheaper, i can't get myself to pay more... even if the cheaper ones are all out of stock

...so i got an estoril from treats, its for an a35 (different angle exhaust header mount than a55, but i have to modify whatever i get anyways because its an engine from a streetmate on a different bike)

Re: exhausts, stevesmoped.com, suggestions...

bquiz,

Yes the Technigas Next R raw will work on your A55. And HELL NO I wouldn't order it from Steve's moped. I recently had the worst customer service experience in my whole life with Steve's moped. They kept me waiting for over a month telling me they're waiting for a part. Every time I called it was "waiting for another part." First it was the sprocket that was part of the speed kit, then it was the adapter. I almost asked them are you waiting for the exhaust or what? He even told me "I'm gonna drop what I'm doing right now and pack your box for you personally." I call back a few days later, with no confirmation email with tracking number and he says "we're waiting for something else." Steve's moped does not give a sh* about their customers. They toy around with you like a carrot in front of a rabbit. I ended up calling them up, telling them a piece of my mind and then cancelling my order. There was no remorse from them at all, being that I cancelled a $500 order. I was soo pissed! Anyhow, all I can say is that with the lack of genuine customer service and perpetual lying like that will end up taking a toll on their profits, but wait...they don't give a SH*!

Bquiz, if you're willing to pay more for a Technigas pipe, I would recommend heeters (www.heeters.com). Otherwise, you can take your chaces with Steve's moped and hope you get your pipe by next year, IF they're still in business. They are much better with customer service and they can actually give you an expected arrival date for your package.

...just my 2 cents

Re: exhausts, stevesmoped.com, suggestions...

Whoa... not Steve's Mopeds and Bicycle World. They are the worst people to work with. Dan the shipping manager is full of shit and will not ship your order and may even cuss you out in the end. If you want to waste your time and not get your parts they're the man.

On the other hand, the Technigas Next R pipe is about the best all around pipe for the a55. It has the best low end and mid range and a good high end. The biturbo is faster in the high end but lack a little in the low and mid range.

Re: exhausts, stevesmoped.com, suggestions...

I got my Technigas from Heeters. Ordered it during July 4th weekend so it took a few days longer than normal but they were great. I actually ordered the model with a Carbon Fiber color silencer. They called me an hour later to tell me it was out of stock, but they could ship a Blue one that afternoon. I'm actually happy with the splash of color now that it's installed and the Chrome finish looks awesome compared to the flat black stocker.

My dealings with 1977 have also been very satisfying and I plan to use them again as needed.
