I think it's time to leave the Bing

I have a 15mm bing on my 65cc metra and have finally decided to move to the 19mm dellorto. The problem is, I just got used to tuning my bing. Is a dellorto a lot harder? I know they have multiple jets and needles and such. Also what should I do about an intake and an airfilter? Any input would be appreciated.

Re: I think it's time to leave the Bing

don't do it!!!!!!!

Re: I think it's time to leave the Bing

erinl has lots of experience with these carbs*

do it. its not so bad. buy an air filter. make an intake from a puch exhaust header.

Re: I think it's time to leave the Bing

yo, scroll down the threads and look at "metra 65cc help", i just went thru with this and everyone has there opinions, but theres a few replys that people had made; that makes sense, 19mm delorto is what i am doing with a custom intake...

I have a 20mm clamp style dellorto on mine with an intake that only required slight modification. If you don't want to take the time to make a custom intake, then I would suggest going that route.

I haven't fully tuned mine yet, but I will tell you that I don't know a ton about tuning and it is running great just the way it is.

Do it! Dellorto's are the rockin'.

Re: I think it's time to leave the Bing

I'm pretty sure there's a Puch intake you can buy that fits a 19mm clamp PHBG perfecto. My buddy actually has one on his 65cc Metra. I bet TreatsHQ has one, just email Benji.

For air filter, people are suggesting this is about the highest flow you can get, and it's nice and small to stay out of the way. Oil the foam for better protection.

TreatsHQ does have them, just not one listed right now. Found an old auction though:

Re: I think it's time to leave the Bing

Do those have the same flange? they look the same but I've never measured them

As posted above....this is the one I have:

I had to grind down the top parts of the flanges to get the nuts to thread all the way on, but it wasn't a big deal...much better than making your own.

Re: I think it's time to leave the Bing

Regular Dellortos only have one jet to worry about. The PHBG's have three. More to play with, but more to figure out. That's why the spreadsheet is such a help!

Re: I think it's time to leave the Bing

The treats intake has a rectangular opening.

The metrakit intake port is round. Time to break out your dremel.

I got a round opening intake from mopedshop, its not listed on the site though, you have to email.
