Puch Sprocket question

I have a 1980 Murray moped with a Puch e50 engine. I want to get some more top speed, so I am thinking of changing the sprockets to 18/42. Would my stock (otherwise) bike do ok with that setup?

I'm also thinking of getting a hi-flow air filter and re-jetting the carb.

Thanks,

Joe

Re: Puch Sprocket question

The smaller the rear, the more MPH. Larger rear, more bottom end.Anytime you let the engine breathe better, you will gain performance. More air = more power. You can always add fuel.
