what tool do you use for intake porting?

i cant seem to find a dremel attachment that fits perfectly. ive come close. post pics of what you have used.

Re: what tool do you use for intake porting?

there are a couple of different carbide bits available. they do make it easier, but honestly just get a coarse round file, a fine round file, a coarse square file, and a fine square file. the dremel makes it faster, but you can do it alot cleaner with the files.

Re: what tool do you use for intake porting?

unfortunately, im dong the intake windows in the cylinder, so i can only reach them with a dremel and flew shaft.

Re: what tool do you use for intake porting?

I used a Dremel diamond tipped bit. I also used part of a spray paint can to protect the other side of the cylinder when using a file. Riffling files are kind of hard to find, but show up in flea markets a lot.

by intake ports inside the cylinder do you mean the transfers? or the intake port window?

Files.

Re: what tool do you use for intake porting?

Start off marking the inside with a red sharpie marker.

Otherwise its really hard to gauge how much you cut!

I have always used the same mini die grinder with the same set of Matco carbides.

Re: what tool do you use for intake porting?

small fine hand files and patience. I couldn't get a dremel to fit.

Re: what tool do you use for intake porting?

that's what she said.

Seriously though, I use a dremel and cheap ass home depot bits for all my port work. Just clean up the edges with a hand file and sand paper. I don't neccesarily do shot right most the time though.

Re: what tool do you use for intake porting?

i got a pack of files from homedepot for 10 bucks it cam with 8 different files.... every one you need..
