50cc tccd kit, LOW END BOO.

i KNOW this kit is notorious for horrid low-end, but mine's pretty damn horrible. like, to the point i don't know why anyone would ever buy the kit. it takes me a long ass time to hit speed, and if it's uphill, forget it.

my setup:

50cc tccd kit (2 gaskets i think?)

15 intake

14 bing

60 jet

no filter (i'm getting a hi-flow filter soon)

boss pipe

14/45 sprockets

also it doesn't help that my chain tensioner is retardo and pedaling is impossible right now (i am also getting a new tensioner).

help me help me. i don't like holding up traffic for a block and a half.

estoril is the answer. They are amazing on tccd's. Last time we tried a boss it sucked pretty bad. I'd also recommend trying a smaller intake. smaller carb to bigger intake isn't good, you won't get much power with that. bigger to small works well, equal size is also good.

If not that, timing is probably your issue. Once thats spec'd, do some clutch tuning. We have 2 bikes running 50tccd, 16 sha, estoril, and 14/45 and the other 15x40. The 15x40 has bad low end, but not horrible and does 45-46. Before we timed the 14/40 right it couldn't climb any hills, or basically wouldn't move if the road wasn't flat. It rips now.

That jet sounds smallish, you might be lean bogging.

I was running a 70 in a similar setup; granted, I am in humid Florida.

Re: 50cc tccd kit, LOW END BOO.

14/45 and it still has horrible low end? something is definitely wrong. like dude above said, check your timing.

Re: 50cc tccd kit, LOW END BOO.

if you get an estoril you can't use your pedals. seems like you would def like your pedals with that set up. smaller freewheel is what i'd do.

Re: 50cc tccd kit, LOW END BOO.

with a simple pedal modification you can pedal just fine with the estoril.

Re: 50cc tccd kit, LOW END BOO.

i have the same kit, and am experience similar (but not quite as bad) low end issues. however, i'm jetted at a 66 for break in, and i think a lot of it is b/c i'm pretty rich.

anyway, i don't think you need to have 2 head gaskets on there. i only have one, and adding unnecessary gaskets is going to lower compression and kill your low end. take one off and see if the piston hits.

Re: 50cc tccd kit, LOW END BOO.

emily, you should get a proma gp pipe. it has the longest header out of all the puch pipes. longer header= better low end.

Re: 50cc tccd kit, LOW END BOO.

50cc TCCD is supposed to be one of the fastest 50cc kits. By adding base gaskets, you advance the port timing. If you advance the timing too far, you lose all your low end. 60 also sounds way lean to me. I'm running a ported high torque stock cylinder with a 14mm bing and a boss, and I'm jetted at 64. Timing is crucial as well, and since you've advanced the port timing by adding an extra base gasket, that affects ignition timing as well. I'd also give it a good ol' compression check while you're at it. But with 14x45, you should be tearing up the low end. After you get this sorted out, tune that clutch.

Re: 50cc tccd kit, LOW END BOO.

we worked our way down to a 60, i know it seems really lean but i'm pretty sure it's right. plug looks good after riding it pretty hard for a while. it's timed correctly, gapped correctly with new points. compression tested for leaks at P-town scooters. Maybe we'll try taking a base gasket off. and i have an estoril we can try on it. it rips pretty good once it gets going.

Re: 50cc tccd kit, LOW END BOO.

Some heavily ported cyls benefit from jetting by performance feel rather than plug color and that usually means an almost black plug after you get that 'feeling'

Re: 50cc tccd kit, LOW END BOO.

Yeah, 60 Jet with no air filter equals, WAY too much air and zero power... You might as well go ahead and get an 88 with a high flow filter, at least and with no filter, you would have to go higher, although you should never ride that shit without something catching debris from getting into your engine...

Re: 50cc tccd kit, LOW END BOO.

60 with no air filter? Come on.

Re: 50cc tccd kit, LOW END BOO.

srsly. doubt a 60 in a filterless 14 would cut it on a stock cylinder, much less one with more aggressive porting

Re: 50cc tccd kit, LOW END BOO.

You shouldn't have any head gaskets, just make sure your deck is OK with your base gaskets. You probably need to upjet anyway, but if you have a bing, that isn't your problem. Move the needle clip down a notch or two and give it a try. that'll help from 0-3/4 throttle, main jets are for 3/4-full throttle.

Re: 50cc tccd kit, LOW END BOO.

bryan knows how to tune a moped. trust me.

Re: 50cc tccd kit, LOW END BOO.

If you are running a 60 jet, then you should probably swap the diffuser in the bing, or put a fucking dellorto on it already.

Re: 50cc tccd kit, LOW END BOO.

the power is in the points.

advance the timing fully and re tune the carb afterwards.

oh also make sure your not leaking from the magneto side seal. that will kill lowend.

Re: 50cc tccd kit, LOW END BOO.

progress today. up to a 68 jet and the estoril is sooo much better on that bike (good tip zackck, thanks). rips good now, we can probably tweak it some more but getting there. also it only has the one head gasket. 60 jet defied all moped logic to me also, but it was part of the combo that got it from 10mph to 35mph.

glad i could help. It really is the best pipe for the kit. Rips hard once tuned properly. Is it doing 35 now with better low end?

Re: 50cc tccd kit, LOW END BOO.

timing timing timing!

Re: 50cc tccd kit, LOW END BOO.

yep, the estoril helps a ton. so do the points opening.

and fyi, the thing ran like shit with a filter on it. it was all points.

also i fized my tensioner, but now need to modify the pedals with the new pipe.

Re: 50cc tccd kit, LOW END BOO.

i can make you a modified pedal if you are serious about keeping the estoril. I was planning on making some to sell anyway at some point.

Re: 50cc tccd kit, LOW END BOO.

want to sell me that boss?

Re: 50cc tccd kit, LOW END BOO.

already got bryan looking at it. ;D

Re: 50cc tccd kit, LOW END BOO.

oh, cool. modified how?

Re: 50cc tccd kit, LOW END BOO.

hey is ur bike a motomatic bike from sacramento in ur profile by chance?

Re: 50cc tccd kit, LOW END BOO.

Re: 50cc tccd kit, LOW END BOO.

gnarly but functional... I like it.

Re: 50cc tccd kit, LOW END BOO.

I got to get me one of them.
