Re: Official Hobbit Day, Leovince Review

haha,

i dont mind the burn.

My comment is in regard to the slow stock hobbits. And yes, I do ride a moped for the gas mileage.

I get 96 mpg. Average on 5 tank fulls. I ride my moped to beat my Jeep for in town driving of 12 mpg.

My post is inquring why stock PA50IIs are going so slow to begin with?

Re: Official Hobbit Day, Leovince Review

what are the kitted bikes getting for gas mileage Im curious? From what it sounds like, so far im getting the best speed vs gas mileage ratio. :)

Re: Official Hobbit Day, Leovince Review

The stock pa50II's were governed to 30 mph.

Pa50I's were governed to 20 mph.

Re: Official Hobbit Day, Leovince Review

almost all hobbits that are slow are because the exhaust is plugged from people mixing 25:1 as directed on the tank.

Re: Official Hobbit Day, Leovince Review

Why what's the least mix you can get away with?

When I read this, I went - this is a bunch of BS. Almost all? There have been SO MANY Hobbits on these forums with many types of failures causing them to go slow. Hardly any have been fixed by ONLY cleaning out the exhaust.

I'd say that most are caused by carb cleanliness problems.

Don't mean to throw crap around, but IMO, I see things differently. I don't know why this bugged me so much. Done ranting.

Re: Official Hobbit Day, Leovince Review

Unless you're using synthetic, stick to the 25:1 ratio. For whatever reason I'm not sure but Hobbit engines are very oil-hungry.

Re: Official Hobbit Day, Leovince Review

I have been using 40:1 for about 1,000 miles of worry free mopeding. My ped now has 1,900 miles. I recomend it highly. 25:1 is too thick. To much smoke, too much build up. Newer oils are much better than oils being used in 1980

Rarexo, dont get your pants in a bunch! Read most posts with a grain of salt. The post stating 25:1 is making hobbits slow is merely saying that 25:1 is too rich. And for the most part, I agree. 25:1, will make my hobbit slower.

Re: Official Hobbit Day, Leovince Review

My first hobbit with a brand new carb went about 10 mph. I took off the clogged exhaust and put on a Leo Vince and it does 35 now.

Re: Official Hobbit Day, Leovince Review

I put one on a stock 78 pa50II and got 43 mph on a radar gun out of the bike is yours on the slower hobbit. I also have to up jet because it's now running too lean. And as far as my early inquiry on mix I'm sticking with the 25:1 with the higher rpm's I'm now making I figure it needs all the lubrication it can get.

I just corresponded with LeoVince, asking them what cyilnder the LeoVince pipe was designed for.

The answer:

The camino/hobbit pipe was developed/designed around the stock cylinder for the camino. All R&D testing was done with the stock cylinder.

Just information for us all. I had thought that maybe this pipe was specifically designed for a Malossi, DR, or other cylilnder. Guess not.

Of course, it doesn't mean that the pipe won't work with other cylinders, but it does tell us it was designed tuned for the stock cylinder's port timing.

Re: Official Hobbit Day, Leovince Review

Does anybody have an up close shot of this muffler bolted up? I was workin on my bike yesterday for a couple of hours and had it almost all put back together but when I got to mounting the muffler, I spent about 5 minutes just staring at the pieces they gave me and then gave up and went to sleep...it was gettin kinda late.

I'm at school all day but maybe tonight I'll get another look at it...but a picture would be nice!

Re: Official Hobbit Day, Leovince Review

Well tonight I just ended up taking the chain off....and the chain tensioner and using one of those holes I will just run a bolt thru and mount it that way. I'm having trouble deciding if I should run the bolt thru the gray case or just keep the case off.....

Re: Official Hobbit Day, Leovince Review

Leave everyting on and use one of the random holes beneath the tensioner. This pipe fits on without any modification needed except for that one bolt and you don't even have to drill a hole for it.
