If I want to put a Delorto 14:12 on an A-3 Tomos from the early 80's, can I use the same Encarwi intake (offset intake), or would I use the centered intake? If neither, which intakes would work?

You need a custom intake.
idk if you can use the "Encarwi" intake but you can use an offset one
buy a a35 and cut the bottom off and take your a-3 and cut it and weld the a35 to the a3
I'm in the same boat. I've got a 78 a3 with the encarwi. I was told by the gentlemen at warbux that ike's bikes sells an adapter plate for dellorto carbs on oldschool a3s. I checked their site and couldn't find one, but I'll call them up tomorrow and post my results. I have a modified technigas next pipe on my bike that would LOVE to have a bigger carb...
by the way, the carb i was recommended by the warbux guys was a dellorto 15.15. Any opinions on this?Only mods to the bike are the pipe and a 27th front sprocket.
Ike at Ike's Bikes sold me an intake that's supposed to allow you to put a Dellorto onto an A3. I know it bolts directly onto the cylinder, but I'm still waiting on the carb, so I can't say for sure how the carb fits yet.
Your Encarwi intake is offset? Odd. Mine's completely straight. The Dellorto intake is pushed over to the side a bit, though.
As for carb size, from what I've read, you should only do the 15.15 if you're planning on doing some porting. Apparently the ports on the A3 cylinder are ridiculously small, so you aren't going to get much more benefit out of the 15.15 than the 14.12 until you get in there and start changing stuff. Don't ask me any more than that -- I don't really understand this porting business, and I've probably already said more than I am qualified to say.
Here's my link collection for A3 performance, but there's more out there if you're interested and you want to search:

So I took the offset intake (which looks just like the stock encarwi one), put on a 14:12 Delorto (helped to swing the engine down by removing the two top engin bolts, and it runs great. The Delorto doesn't quite fit (it leans to one side), but the ped runs well enough, about 30.

So you fit the carb in that stupid little hole where the Encarwi usually goes? Did you have to change out your throttle control at all, or did all that just go right together?
I bought a dellorto intake from ike a few months ago for my 1980 a3 but I was also wondering about if the same throttle asssembly could be used or if any modifications needed to be made.... Anyone out there know?
i have a 14:12 on my 85 tomos a35 and i had to make a custom fitting out of brass tubbing and some 45 degree angle brass(all1/2in) and soldered them together with some plumbing solder.(you need a mini tourch)
Bah, what the hell. Mine's already in like 50 pieces anyway. Taking apart one more thing isn't gonna hurt anything. Give me 20 minutes (that'll probably be closer to an hour and a half) and I'll go see if I can figure it out.
Okay, so I have so far been unsuccessful in disassembling the stupid thing. I did, however, check the diagrams at mopedjunkyard.com, and those don't look too promising. The older A3's use Magura controls, while the newer A3s (which I'm guessing are the ones that already have Dellortos) use Domino controls. I'll keep working on this, though, until someone comes up with something more definitive.
Okay, throttle cables... I've attached a picture that should be pretty self-explanatory. Unless you've got a double-ended Dellorto cable, you're going to have to invent something. Seems to me like a cable knarp or some carefully shaped solder would make a good end for the cable, but I can't say for sure. It's also possible that there's some sort of hidden thing about the control that will make the cable not work even if you can put an end on it, but again, I'll report back once I know more.
