65 cc metrakit

What is the general opinion on 65 cc Metrakit. I just ordered one along with a 16 mm dellorto carb and a boss pipe, so any comments are welcome.

Re: 65 cc metrakit

i just put one on my e50 have not ran it yet but it went on with ease. looks good to me so far.

Re: 65 cc metrakit

Good to hear, I'll be installing mine next week-end.

Re: 65 cc metrakit

I love mine. It flys and is a big improvement from a 1hp jug. I have a bored out bing on mine (16mm), but I hear that they preform better with a 19mm carb.

Re: 65 cc metrakit

derbeez ryderz /

i love mine as well. i've had mine for 800 miles now, blasting almost all the time with a 21mm carb, and have never had a single issue. oh and its pretty quick too.

Re: 65 cc metrakit

i put one on my maxi two days ago. it hauls. you will see a huge difference in preformance. it will be like a whole new bike.

Re: 65 cc metrakit

These are all positives and usefull information, this is so cool, thanks to you guys for the nice feedback.

Does anybody have any suggestions as far for the installation, what to look out for?

Re: 65 cc metrakit

Dude, thank you so much, I haven't seen this article. Thanks again.

Re: 65 cc metrakit

where are you finding that kit right now?

Re: 65 cc metrakit

they aren't making them anymore and Metrakit doesn't have any old ones in stock, so what's out there is what there will be unless they decide to produce it again.

Re: 65 cc metrakit

A word for the wise. Use ALL the base gaskets that the kit comes with or else there will not be enough clearance for piston.

I know a few people (myself included) have been like, pffft i dont need all these stupid gaskets. And then after you finish installing you realize how stupid you are and you need to redo everything.

Re: 65 cc metrakit

I got mine from treatshq on ebay.

Re: 65 cc metrakit

jjsupah is right. I had to use all of the gaskets included in the kit. Your piston will hit if you don't!

Re: 65 cc metrakit

Some people have been having problems with casting but personally mine has ripped no problem until last weeks soft seize which was my fault I believe. Induced by unexact fuel mixture.

Re: 65 cc metrakit

"A word for the wise. Use ALL the base gaskets that the kit comes with or else there will not be enough clearance for piston."

So... I'm finally putting my metrakit on tonight. By "ALL the base gaskets" does that mean even use the crazy thick aluminum multi-layered base gasket that came with it? That thing is huge!..and barely fits over the sleave. My kit also came with 2 normal base gaskets. Seems like using that combo (metal AND normal together) would be air leak fest. Unless that's not actually a base gasket and i'm just fucking retarded.. which is quite possible, but just trying to avoid re-doing the work.

Re: 65 cc metrakit

Just to clarify, I'm not confusing the gasket mentioned above with the head gasket. Thats included as well. This is an actual aluminum base gaskets that looks like it's pressed together from about 5-6 thinner aluminum base gaskets. This might be common but my only other kit experience is with a polini and it didn't have this monstrosity.

Re: 65 cc metrakit

I just used the 3 aluminum gaskets that are stuck together and not the paper gasket. Save the paper gasket though for a guide if you ever want to port match your case. The aluminum ones were a bitch to get on, and I also used some gasket sealer that a friend gave me. Can't remember the name right now. Just turn it over by hand when you get it back together, and if there's not enough clearance you'll hear it hit the plug. Be careful breaking that kit in, I soft seized mine the other day!

Re: 65 cc metrakit

So, I'll definitely will be using all the base gaskets that comes with the kit. :D

About soft seize, how does that happen? And does anybody have an idea how to break it in? I imagine no WOF, right? I am supposed to get my kit tomorrow, which means wrenching time on saturday, if my wife lets me LOL

Re: 65 cc metrakit

jet it a little rich. a good rule of thumb for this is 7/8 throttle should be a little faster than WOT (b/c it bogs down at WOT) then follow the below instructions by marc. it's exactly what i followed and my kit break in went great.

The best way is not very hard, and requires far less work then the above have mentioned. The best way is to simply oil everything up upon reassembly, and prepare for a 10-30 minute drive in a reasonable dry climate (60-80F). Start the bike out VERY slowly, but BE ON IT!!! don

Re: 65 cc metrakit

oh, and i ran golden spectro synthetic/conventional blend. do that or conventional for the first 50 miles or so.

Re: 65 cc metrakit

mine has been blasting for months and months and months . it is sick and solid.

Re: 65 cc metrakit

I <3 metra

Re: 65 cc metrakit

Cool. So everything is on and tight and working great. I'm jetted at 90 right now which is probably high and I can't go WOT without it bogging out. If i let off a bit to 3/4 throttle it takes off again. I'm also at the leanest needle setting (15mm bing) because I was too lazy to put it back to the second notch. Is that something I should be concerned about?

Re: 65 cc metrakit

sounds like you're jetting perfect for a break in. nice work.

Re: 65 cc metrakit

What jetting should I use to start, I have with my metrakit a 16 mm dellorto carb and boss pipe? I got a range of jets 60 - 80 but I don't know which one to use for a starter? And, yeah it sounds kind of dumb, but how would I know to up or downjet?
