dellorto 16 cheaper than 15?

So, I'm shopping carbs. It would seem that the dellorto 15.15 costs more than the 16.16. Is this just supply and demand? I know the 15.15 is very popular, I also can't see this 1mm bore difference being a big deal. OR is the 15.15 a better engineered unit? They look the same on paper other than bore. Any thoughts? Thanks!

15 is more expensive simply because of higher demand.

Re: dellorto 16 cheaper than 15?

Are they the same type? SHA vs PHBG

Re: dellorto 16 cheaper than 15?

both SHA

Re: dellorto 16 cheaper than 15?

well thats just dumb.

Re: dellorto 16 cheaper than 15?

Honestly, I think that is a weird way to price it. I ahve seen them for same cost lots of places and I sell them for the same cost. The dealer cost for a 15.15 IS higher than a 16.16 though. In terms of performance it is the same, I mean on most setups it will be more efficient to use a 15.15 though becuase if you need a 16, go with a PHBG...much much better carb.

Re: dellorto 16 cheaper than 15?

A lot of the off the shelf intakes are just 15mm so if you opt for a 16 you want to have either made your own intake or grind out the 15 intake

Re: dellorto 16 cheaper than 15?

yea thats what i was thinking... 15mm intakes arent really _that_ abundant, and i rarely see 16mm intakes so that would maybe make the 16mm carb slightly less useful? Ive still been thinking of getting the 16 SHA though, just cause its cheaper.

Re: dellorto 16 cheaper than 15?

Thats what I use on 50s with no metering problem. Used one on a 70cc RGD with no probs. It is possible to adjust idle and mid range using micro drills on the bottom two orifices as you look in the throat. I write this as a public service to my fellow cheapskates and really for all but the most balls out engine configs these carb are very versatile

Re: dellorto 16 cheaper than 15?

only use a 3 jet carb set up.. why waste with a 1 jet carb..
