e50 case match

i know this might be beating a dead horse but ive read every thread on this and gone through the wiki. But i still cant find what i need. How deep into the case do you go when port matching i know i just need trace the gasket onto the case for the width, but how deep do i go. Thanks for any help. Im gonna do this today on my lunch break.

e50 case match

Did you look at the rebuild an E50 article in the Wiki? I have some pictures in there of a case match that I did.

Re: e50 case match

i saw that so it looks like you just go a little ways inbasically to the first groove if you know what im referring to

Re: e50 case match

Just watch out for the holes for the screws that hold your case together.

Re: e50 case match

it depends. the deeper you go the more you will decrease the case compression. if you are building a top speed race bike go deep, this will give you the best flow possible but will take away from your low end. if you want torque only go as far as you have to go. some people only go about half an inch in and just widen and smooth the ports to match the kit.

i have done both, very minimal difference but there is a difference.

Re: e50 case match

Go deep. match the style of the stock porting.

Re: e50 case match

well here is the finished product, did i go to far on the right hand side

Re: e50 case match

what cylinder are you using?

Re: e50 case match

not bad dude, however on the right side (in the pic). left side if the picture wasnt upside down needs to be a little smoother. the whole point of a case match is to make the gas/air mixture flow as smoothly as possible into the cylinder ports. so think aerodynamic when you are doing that.

there is a lump that needs to get taken down and overall its not a bad idea to make everything smooth as possible with sandpaper. but these are all super minimal improvements im talking about. just getting as close to perfection as you can.

Re: e50 case match

ill be using the 70cc tomos parma kit. Ill work on that lump. But did i go to far on the right side, is there enough material left to make a good seal??

Re: e50 case match

also i used a dremel on the right side, and a hand file on the left. The hand file takes a bit longer but i think the results are cleaner and more precise

Re: e50 case match

also should i try to polish this surface or should i leave the roughness to help with fuel atomization
