Polini ----> Gila

I was running a case matched puch polini and seized it yesterday. If I wanted to switch to the puch gila would this be an issue since I have matched my case to a polini? Would I need a fresh case to start with?

Thanks

Steve

Re: Polini ----> Gila

You could either grind the case further to match the Gilardoni or let the polini case match ride. Gilardonis like to sieze too of course. I have seen a high strung Polini beat a Gilardoni

Re: Polini ----> Gila

Yeah I understand that 2 strokes in general can seize, however after playing around with a polini for a year or so I might want to try a new set up, havent heard much bad stuff about gila yet.

Just didnt know if the case match would cause an airflow issue or anything or if I would just end up grinding it away to fit the skirt of the gila

Thanks

Steve

Re: Polini ----> Gila

Oh yea I forgot about the cyl skirt issue. I went through 3 pistons on my Gilardoni. It's on the shelf now. I can be a little challenged when it comes to tuning. I mostly soup up 50s and just mess with the big cyls once in a while

Re: Polini ----> Gila

Why did you go through so many pistons? Diferent sizes or were they getting trashed?

Re: Polini ----> Gila

the biggest downside to the gilla is its pretty much out of production, so if u mess it up your not gonna get one again.

Also polini eats gilli for breakfast. but its still a good kit

Re: Polini ----> Gila

I would say gila is a little more powerful if you just bolt it on out of the box. I would also say a polini can be just as fast as a gila if some work is put into it. I will also say that a gila is probably way cheaper than a polini after you get the 4 petal set-up and what not. Depending if you can do all the case work and such to the gila yourself.

I will also say as of now Benji has some extra pistons and just got a big patch of gilas in. This rumor keeps popping up that they are out of production, but more and more keep showing up.

Go for the gila. New toys are fun to play with.

Also, I would say, that you should probably be ok with your case. You might not get the optimal performance, but based on my thoughts of looking at the transfers for the two kits, it shouldnt be tooooo bad.

lunch and dinner! desert to.

Re: Polini ----> Gila

I couldn't get it to run rich enough at mid throttle. Flat out was good but you can't do that around town. I tried two different needles and finally sanded one way down in frustration but no dice. Another guy here in Seattle faced the same fate. He rides motorcycles and electric peds now. Same guy that introduced the Polini to the original creatures.

🇮🇹💦 Of the Loin /

a properly tuned gila would spank an equally tuned polini

we just havent had the 3 years of tuning experience as everyone has with polinis.

ive gone through one piston so far. the good news though is you can get a metra piston and drill the two booster holes. So pistons should be easy to come by.

hell i basically just slapped it on and with 18x45 and a simonini i hit 55

Re: Polini ----> Gila

Did you cut your simo or leave it sticking straight up. Gonna try my seized kit again but if it keeps seizing I will have to scrap t
