Batavus upgrades

A question for Batavus owners!

I just put on dellorto 15.15 and the MLM intake on my M48, and am running a #60 jet. Without any porting or milling, what spark plug should i run in this thing now? Also, does anyone have a suggestion on what air filter to get for the dellorto?

thanks

Re: Batavus upgrades

i don't know but let me know how it goes, i've been coveting that deltorro...

Re: Batavus upgrades

i really dont think yuore going to get any improvement at all, especially if youre running the original exhaust. i just welded this one on, and its really helping

Re: Batavus upgrades

try a NGK b7hs i was running that on a modified hs50 it porbably won't matter what air filter you put on that unless you are porting the intake and exhaust ports and putting a less restrictive pipe on there.

Re: Batavus upgrades

hey mark -

what do you know about enlarging the exhaust port? will i get any gain from just doing that, and not the intake?

Re: Batavus upgrades

okay what about the baffling shit inside the exhaust? I've tried to take all that stuff out but I don't really have the tools for the job and it's pretty damn crusty inside there. I'm not even really sure what i'm looking at either. Damn Batavus for not wanting me to go faster than 25 mph!

Re: Batavus upgrades

Tom,

You'll need to rig up a performance exhaust if you want to see any gain from the bigger carb.

Then go to a bigger jet, like 68 and run it with the stock airbox. If you can find a high flo air filter for the SHA, you could try that with a 70 jet but i can never find a SHA high flo so i haven't tried it yet.

lucky m48 guys..i wish us m56 guys had upgrade options. im stuck where im at right now aside from milling my head.

Re: Batavus upgrades

you can always weld up an exhaust Patrick,

m56 are way faster to begin with so you dont have it so bad!

Re: Batavus upgrades

Thanks,

Ill probably be milling the head a bit and put together a new exhaust, id like to at least see 35mph.

what makes the m56 better than the m48?

Re: Batavus upgrades

I thought the 56 was the slower one. Sure seems like to to me.

Re: Batavus upgrades

no they're definitely the faster more powerful ones. i'm not sure why; i guess i always figured it was in the porting. the m56 in my regency did 35 stock before that bike got stolen, raped, and left for dead

Re: Batavus upgrades

Yeah, I have heard a lot about the m56 engine being better than the 48,haven't got to tinker with one yet.

I was paced at 36mph, stock everything, at this years Kzoo with my starflite m48, so I have no complaints about this bike, haha.

off topic..i have a trac that uses a M56 but it has no engine. what else would have similiar engine mounts? itll be near impossible to find another m56 aside from the one i have on my regency.

Re: Batavus upgrades

36mph stock? What kind of wind did they have that day?

Re: Batavus upgrades

haha yeah 36 stock seems a bit fibbish. I could buy 36 _modified_ stock.

Re: Batavus upgrades

Woah, so the regency is the faster one? go me. I even have an extra engine.

Re: Batavus upgrades

m56=56cc

m48=48cc

boom

Re: Batavus upgrades

Have any evidence?

Re: Batavus upgrades

got cut off, comp problems, the bore and stroke are the same where are these extra cc's?
