battery install II (think i have it now) schematic

ok so here it is...

look about right?

i made this looking off of my moped so it should be right inless i am retarded... (no comments please lol)

i have no idea where the black wire with the question mark came from but it was in the wire harness tried to trace it and couldn't :[

vr = voltage regulator (12v 60w)

brown is ground.

thing connected to battery is a full wave bridge rectifier

is "future" right?

Re: battery install II (think i have it now) schem

if you are wondering it is on a 2001 tomos sprint

Now that I know you have a 2001 Tomos Sprint, and I know how your generator/magneto is wired - my conclusion is that you cannot use a full-wave bridge rectifier. If you do, you will fry the rectifier, or worse yet, your generator.

The key is that your generator/magneto has two internal wires which are tied to ground. The only way you can use a full-wave bridge rectifier is if your generator/magneto has an isolated ground. Your bike does not have an isolated ground system. The generator, the magneto, and the electrical loads are all tied to ground.

A full-wave bridge rectifier is used for "separately derived systems", meaning that the output is not in any way electrically connected to the input. On your bike, one of the AC inputs will be tied to ground.

I don't have more time this morning to provide further help - but I didn't want you to fry your bike. It may work if you change your bikes wiring so that all loads have return ground wires - haven't look at this in detail to answer for sure.

Re: battery install II (think i have it now) schem

anyother people on this one?

Re: battery install II (think i have it now) schem

to make it even easier to look at this.

wanna tell me what i have to do to make it correct?

Re: battery install II (think i have it now) schem

ok so i took the rectifier out but what did you mean about "one of the AC inputs will be tied to ground"

is that what i need to do instead of the full wave rectifier?

Re: battery install II (think i have it now) schem

you're going to goto all the trouble of installing a battery JUST so you can run that horn?

dude, air horn.

Re: battery install II (think i have it now) schem

Actually, it might be nice to have a wiki on installing a battery. I know that I would like constantly bright lights and a maybe a better horn. I don't want to jump into it today, I have much bigger fish to fry, but someday maybe and there are likely lots of others who want to add a battery too.

Re: battery install II (think i have it now) schem

it is not just a horn! it is a stebel magnum!

and yes a am going to go through all this trouble to do this, because dim lights at a stoplight or cruising down a road is just as safe a no lights. and the horn is just rad and loud as shit! 136dB i think that you will hear me if you cut me off!
