A55 porting

Hey folks, has anyone ported, or port matched an A55 yet, and where are it's factory faults. I haven't torn my new bike down yet, needs to break in a little, but after that I'm going to clean up the ports if I can . I'm kind of excited to see what I can to do the ports. The last 400cc quad I ported pulled off 7mph more just cleaning up the transfer ports down were it matches the case, that was a surprising improvement, and not expected.

I'm not going to mess with the port height and timing , or the port width, just clean them up of anything to look like an air flow obstruction. Anyone had any luck yet? Thanks

Re: A55 porting

your 06 sprint has an a55? are you sure it's not an a35?

Re: A55 porting

Sorry, I ended up with an 08 instead.

You pretty much don't need to do anything to them. Just get a decent pipe and get rid of the stooopid airbox. The top ends are simply amazing. Definately the most agressive port map I have ever seen on a stock moped.

A55 porting

Great, I have a Biturbo, and I hand full of jets ordered for now. I will get this running good, and then when 1977 gets their foam air filter kit back in stock with the main and slow speed jet, I'll jet it again. Thanks

Bruce Edwards /

Are you saying '06 Tomos engines where not A55's?

Re: A55 porting

maybe

Re: A55 porting

a.) don't forget to change out that rear sprocket. the 28 tooth is great if you're going for torque, but not if you're going for top speed. Throw a 22 on their or do some work and get a 20 on there.

b.) I BELIEVE but am not 100% certain that the a55 came out with the 07's. I'm not 100% sure though.

Re: A55 porting

The stock air box modified correctly will make more power than a uni...the A55 is piston port so the blow back has more room to go with the stock air box...cut that rubber nozzle down to air box flange and bore it out as much as you can with a carbide...then depending on how loud you want it...drill 1/2 inch holes in the back part of the box 4-6 holes ...use stock filter element...upjet probably 2-3 jet sizes-this with a bi turbo and 22 rear sprocket it will go 40+ easy ...have fun

Re: A55 porting

hey Shaw, got any advice on how to get rid of all the restrictive shit in the stock pipes? I've got access to a couple, and I was thinking of just cutting/drilling the shit out of those instead of spending the $120 on a biturbo.

Re: A55 porting

hey , zach, just buy a a35 techno bullet or whatever and just cut and rewled. cost you like 60 bucks.

Re: A55 porting

yeah, a totally good option, but if I could just get this extrra pipe and do some hacking... I've kinda got too many irons in the fire, and a little free speed sounds pretty nice.
