What happens with a simonini on a stock cylinder

I.R.E. Mike Pee /

Alright, so I fucked up my techno boss riding down the steps of the St. Louis Arch. A noble way to go. Anways, I need a new pipe before Kzoo, and I can either get a Bullet - which kinda suck from what I hear - or a simo. I've been wanting to get a simo anyways because I've got an 80 gila kit laying around that is gonna need a pipe. But if I put it on my stock za50 maxi with a hi-torque head (already has the exhaust port openend pretty damn big), and a 15mm bing is it even gonna work? I know it will kill my low end, but...is it even going to be near rideable?

Blah, need to get my maxi all reliable n' shit before kzoo!

Re: What happens with a simonini on a stock cylind

there is nothing wrong with the bullet pipe. not the best, but for the money its not bad at all.

Re: What happens with a simonini on a stock cylind

I am betting you dont move with that pipe on a stock cylinder, but thats jst my guess.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking Tommy. haha

Re: What happens with a simonini on a stock cylind

I run a 6P on a 50 and it works good. Harold has run a 50 with a Simonini and it went fast

Re: What happens with a simonini on a stock cylind

thats true about harold, but im not sure it was just a stock maxi cylinder.

Today i'm trying out simo on a korado cylinder and a 2 speed. I'll report tonite how it goes.

Re: What happens with a simonini on a stock cylind

gear low, 3 shoe clutch, lightened w/ springs and you might be alright.

Re: What happens with a simonini on a stock cylind

yep i ran a simo on a "stock cylinder" ported #22 korado cylinder and it hit 50mph. it also had respectable low end and that was with a tuned (non modifed) 2 shoe clutch.

it would work, but yeah u need HP to make the pipe worth puttin on. right now u maybe have 2 hp lol.

zack do yourself a favor and port the exahust on the korado. yer gonna love it.

Re: What happens with a simonini on a stock cylind

the simo wont even bolt up to a stock cylinder without some cutting of fins or of the exhaust header. the fins go all the way around the exhaust port unlike on polinis or what have you where the fins only go around one side making it not an easy time

Re: What happens with a simonini on a stock cylind

Sorry just reread i dont know for sure on a za50. I tried it on a 2hp e50 cylinder not a straight bolt up

Well, I decided the best solution was to order a proma GP from 1977...didn't see that before...and since Benji only had one simo left I nabbed that too.

So I got the last carbon simo pipe from Benji.

AND I got the last Proma GP from 1977.

::evil cackle::

Re: What happens with a simonini on a stock cylind

yea so i failed getting the simo welded up today, so I'm just running a stock magnum pipe. Pretty crummy, but its doing 30-35 and its not quite tuned yet.

Harold, exhaust is ported a bit, and I'm running a bendy intake and 19mm phbg. Feels nice, but its like 100 out so I'm not too keen on tuning right now.

I'm expecting good things with the simo.

ok, so riding around some more, and its getting closer to 40, maybe hitting it. Its like 100, so thats keeping me from going too hard.

Riding tonite ought to be fun.

Ok, rode it tonite and it had a few issues, but overall pretty solid. I think I hit 42, maybe 43 which is quite impressive for a beat XK exhaust. I'm running an 82 jet and of course its a bit rich, but it feels good.

I learned never to use RTB as sealant for your head. Flaming/molten goop out the exhaust is a bit scary.
