Im probably going to pick up the kit from treats. I wanted to know if I should change the sprokets out to yeild greater speed or leave sock? I am going to be running a 16/16 Dellorto, and a tecno bullet with the kit.

Yes, changing the sprockets out will yield greater speed.
Ok, sprokets set aside, Im more interested in seeing what this thing will do with the stock gearing. I am ordering the 65metra and high compression head from treats today, so with this set up
16.16Dellorto
65cc Metra
High Compression head
Tecno Bullet
What Range of jet should I start with? I heard from a fellow that the 82 ran fine with this exact same set up, and me only having 66-70 and the 82, I am missing a whole range of jets.
it's really hard to say. i have the same set up but with a 19mm carb, and i just swapped the 95 jet i had in there for a hundred b/c it was lean at full throttle, if that helps you.
You can and should buy a bunch of jets up and down from 82.
Ok, so do you guys think it would be safe to just run it with the 82 until I can get a full range? Im kinda strat for cash (the kit and head just set me back $200)
You might get lucky with that one jet but for 21 bucks you can get 7 jets. 21 dollars is about 10% what you paid for the kit and cheap insurance.
you want to be rich for break in. does the 82 jet feel rich? if it doesn't, than you should get a bigger jet. if you don't run rich enough during break in, you're likely to soft seize (like i did), and then your kit will never run as well ever again (like mine doesn't), and then you'll end up spending your stimulus check on a new one (like i did). so it's worth the $20 to protect your investment, get it?
I get it, makes sence. COuld you do the same thing by running a higher oil to fuel ratio? With the stock 50cc cylinder I have been running 50:1 (factory spec) so should I increase the oil dosage to 40:1 or thicker?
i run a 67. slight port matching, no case, 2 speed, estoril, fine plugs. 21phgb
if you run more oil your fuel air ratio wont get any richer
Alright, Well im waiting to hear back from Benji to see if im going to get that Metrakit. So whats the size difference from the bing to dellorto jets? Im running a 70 in my 14mm bing at the moment and with the bullet it is running nice in tune.
wait, a 67?!?!?! i'm running a 95 and it's lean
you need to do both. you need to run richer, as in more fuel to air in the fuel to air ratio (bigger jet), and also more oil in your fuel. you also need to use non-synthetic oil . . . the synthetic is too slippery, so your rings won't hone the cylinder right
I use convenional/Synthetic Mix at a 40conventional/60synthetic ratio anyways, so it wont be a problem using only conventional for a wile. Cheaper too.
104 is just about right for mine with a 19.5
see anyone's jet can vary there are just too many variables to ask such a broad question.
get a range and start with the highest one you have and then go down 'till you run right. but make sure you let the bike warm up before you test run. that effects jetting alot!
For sure, I always starter up and let it sit for 5-10min wile I do other things to get ready to head out.
Wow, lots of jetting differences here.
Here's my setup:
65 Metra (case not ported)
Dell SHA 16.16 with 16mm Malosi manifold.
74 Jet (still a little rich)
Techno Estoril
With stock 14:45 gearing it topped out right at 38 but get there in a hurry.
At 17:45 will top out in mid 40s. Can cruise there all day and pull any hill without noticing.
Sweet son of a bitch, ordered this kit less than 24hrs ago and its HERE. SWEET, now im a little new to the installation of these things so can someone give me a walk through? Oh and I mentioned in a post before, the carb (16.16 DEL w/70jet) when mounted to the 50cc cylinder with the tecno bullet was reving WAY to fast for idle. Even when I backed the screw out as far as I could, it was still reving soo damn high. Could this be just because it was too large for the engine with the exhaust?
Someone want to explain this? I have the 65cc metra from treats, I have a 15mm bing carb, I run the perfect jet for my setup as I have messed with it for days on end. I have a biturbo and high flow filter. I use 16 x 45 gearing and I go about 38 (gps) on the flat. Never faster. The math says at 8000 rpms I should get 36.8 mph. (check out my fancy excel chart) I have a tiny tach and it says I am hitting 8200 rpms at wot. How the hell is everyone faster than that with worse gearing? Seriously?
it's probably because your throttle cable wasn't long enough to let the thing close all the way. to install the kit, you case match (or don't), then you unscrew the head bolts, pop off the head and the cylinder, undo the circlips and knock out (gently!) the wrist pin, pop off the piston, pop the metrakit piston on (put it on the right way up!), put the wristpin in, put the circlips in with circlip pliers/needle nose, align the rings with their guide posts, grease everything up with a little oil, slide the metrakit cylinder on over the rings (put it on the right way up!), slide the head on, redo the bolts to 15 foot pounds (or do it by hand like all these fools do).
Sorry, didn't mean to jack this post. I get crazy sometimes.
hmmm install is pretty self explanitary. I tried the carb with and without the cable attached and BOTH times it idled way to fast. The cable is DEFFINITLY long enough to reach, Im confused about why it would run like this on the stock cylinder with a tecno bullet and 70 jet, streight out the box
You have an air leak..
spray carb cleaner all over your cylinder and case and cylinder head and exhaust and intake meeting points and if your engine either revvs or cutsout than you've got an air leak
MUST be
Air leak.
You getting this done today or tomorrow marcus? We are riding tomorrow, a big 'ol break-in ride. Several new kits need some easy miles. You should be there!
Well I got the kit installed (by yours truely), I had it running for a couple of seconds, and it didnt speed up all crazy like it did before, SOOOOOOOOO airleak gone. Then again, when it was running, a TON of blue smoke be comming out the exhaust. Then after a few more, it died. Pulled the plug and it was all wet looking. Off to work I go, And yeah im down for a ride tomorrow as soon as we get this bitch running again. Give me a call zack and we will work on gettin er runnin
word. what jet did you put in?
I started with the 82 jet (the one that came with the carb). It ran for a about a min or so, then just died. I pulled the plug and it was looking wet and glossy. The 70 is the next highest I have, but do you think thats going to be too lean? Is a 12 size down jet.
