How fast will are people getting up to on a 70cc kit on a one speed puch???
depends on carb, exhaust, gearing, type of kit, porting, etc....
are you gearing for hills or flat ground
Flat ground what type of top speed you think you can get? Curious I just picked one up and its a bit to slow for me. Fun but alittle slow.
Bikes have done 65 with a 64 polini. 70cc (depending on kit) could probably yield similar results.
Without much trouble you can get it up to mid 40s with a kit, carb, pipe. Depending on the combo, gearing, and porting you could be running in the 50s or higher.
A properly tuned 64cc polini will beat a 70cc TCCD every day of the week.
assuming its a tccd 70kit 45mph is a good solid top speed for that kit at stock gearing and well tuned with a 15 carb.
The 64 would beat a 70 off the line or has a better top end mph?
both.
The difference is that the polini has a reedvalve, while the TCCD does not. That little part makes all the difference.
Cool thanks guys. I think am going to go with the 64cc then. The kits they sell are bolt on correct? or does anything have to be ported.
The difference between going 25 and going 45 on a Puch is simply slapping on a kit. The difference between 45 and 50, or 45 and 55, is a lot of tuning, in most cases.
Polini 64 (actual 58cc) is an aluminum cylinder and is pretty finicky to tune. Yes, you must match the case for it. You should match for any kit, for that matter, but for the Polini it is absolutely essential. If not, there is a spot on the intake side of the piston that is prone to getting very hot.
The TCCD will not be as fast compared alongside a Polini with the same carb/gearing/pipe, but it is much more friendly to irregular jetting and other anomalies that occur. Basically, it's more beginner friendly, and while you may be 5 or 10 mph down from a Polini(or even more by a really well tuned one), you'll still hold your own.
"Polini 64 (actual 58cc)" really? I have never heard that b4 i thought 64cc was legit, where did you gain this information?
if thats really true then a "58cc polini" can reach 65mph, maybe more
I put the wrong number in for the Puch stroke when I was doing the calculation on displacement. Went back and double checked, it is actually a 64, 63.9 to be exact. Polini never lies. :D
No, actually, I know why I was thinking that, and scratch that, I'm pretty certain the Polini is an actual 58.
Here's a post quoted from Ando, from the instructions of the Metra 65.
"I tried looking them up, but all I could find were part #’s and specs.————————————Description:
CYLINDER 65 cc.
Specs:
Cast – perlite
Piston – 43,50
Stroke – 38.9
c.c. – 57.81
Compression – 1:12————————————-
That’s weird that it’s actually 57.81cc.
Polini and Metra 65 share the same 43.5mm bore, according to the Puch Cylinder Guide break>
Getting 57.8 in my formula as well with the supplied numbers. A couple minutes ago I had 43mm in for the Puch stroke, not sure what the hell I was thinking.
Man, eff that shit. Might as well ignore my last four posts, cause I'm pretty sure that the stroke that Metra claims isn't correct.
local machine shop should be able to do the porting right.
porting on the case or porting on the cylinder?
Cylinder porting.... You would have to port match the new head with the case right?
Yes, you should machine the engine cases to match your new cylinder, whatever that is.
stock puch stroke is 41 isnt it?
the fastest 70cc TCCD is brent's 62 mph maxi.
tecno estoril, modded, 21phbg, ported to fuck, crazy gears.
i'd believe it, you gotta do some real work to that kit tho to get it past 50 i'd think.
You talking about Old School Brent, right?
I've rode with him several times, that setup is dope. He runs a Tecnigas Twin though, not an Estoril.
The Puch stroke is 43mm.
"Maxi specs":http://www.bikez.com/motorcycles/puch_maxi_sport_1977.php
Thats stock though so sub the 38 for the 43.5 Bore
Bore x stroke: 38.0 x 43.0 mm (1.5 x 1.7 inches)
I've got an 80 maxi with a 70cc Athena kit 15mm bing bi-turbo and 18/35 gears and I can get mid 40's all day long, that being said the tall gearing makes getting up to speed take longer than most people like but I digress, more power is good for allot of things but your top speed is ultimately in your gears
18/35 or 36 ur only getting 45?? drop to 16/36 I bet u go faster all around
