Re: whos running 17-2.oo tires?

my friend has a maxi with the 2" with an identical setup to my newport with the 2 1/4". He usually got 2 -3 mph faster, but he was lighter than me.

I tried 2" and I was scared. I guess I'm not fit to ride how elliot does. I put an old 2" on the back and it was super sketchy! Up front its fine, but at least 2.25 in the rear.

I still like my 2.75" tires despite the weight. So stable and grippy.

Re: whos running 17-2.oo tires?

the tread pattern has more to do with grip than the width, but still.

i'd run 2"ers if i could find ones i liked

Re: whos running 17-2.oo tires?

i think the profile really makes the biggest difference in the gripping. when i run a small round tire like that, i usually air way up, to like 40 psi. the combination of the two makes for ok-ish handling, but helps top speed. every little bit helps.

Re: whos running 17-2.oo tires?

i love the way 2.75 grip the road and suck up the bumps but i loose power going up hills and takes longer to get going fast.i guess i need to wait for the 80cc kit.

i like how fast the skinny tires go but they really really suck on these ohio gravel back roads and trail rideing

right now im running a comprimise between speed/handleing and comfort i have 16-2 1/4 front and 17-2.50 rear this combo handles very good for me .it is very stable and extremly responsive.
