Just kitted my vespa ciao

So i'm running a 65cc DR kit with stock head, mild port matching, 13.13 carb with 66 jet, Simonini Circuit pipe and its variated. Well it hauls ass from 0 to 35 but after that i've hit about 40 its tuned pretty good the plug is dry and looks nice and brown.

just wondering what every one else with there kitted ciaos are running. I have a feeling it maybe the pipe and its low end design or my 200 pound 6 foot 2 frame.

Re: Just kitted my vespa ciao

I have a very similar setup on my Ciao and that sounds pretty much right on.

Re: Just kitted my vespa ciao

wonder what it is. Puch are hitting 45 or higher with 65 kits. Wonder if its just the DR kit and its weird porting.

Re: Just kitted my vespa ciao

well your carb's only 13mm . . . i get maybe a touch over 40, but i have a 14mm carb. also, at least half of the people who think they're going 45 are actually going, like, 38. i know i thought i was going over 50, and i even saw one of those "your speed is" signs tell me i was going 51 . . . but then i got gps'd at 42.6, and it was pretty much the fastest i'd ever been going on a flat. true 40 on a moped is quite an accomplishment, actually.

Re: Just kitted my vespa ciao

yeah i may look at up grading the carb with my stimulus haha

Re: Just kitted my vespa ciao

Yeah upgrade that carb and it will help out alot. you can get the simonini side intake kit and go up to a 19mm carb which should be plenty for that kit.

Re: Just kitted my vespa ciao

the intake on your stock ciao case is only 13mm, so a 14mm carb won't really make a difference.

the gears in the rear end will keep you slow as well.

my ciao build is the 80cc pinasco kit, malossi reed valve case with the malossi crank, custom 21mm intake for a 21mm phbg, naz built cdi, simonini calibrata pipe, malossi variator, and the malossi gears in the rear end.

i'm not sure of what the performance will be like, but i hope it's pretty rad

Re: Just kitted my vespa ciao

gps 40 is pretty dees for a stock-geared ciao... the gearing really rapes you on those bikes. find/make a smaller rear pulley, lighten your clutch... cake.

Re: Just kitted my vespa ciao

dean why havn't you been online. I'm going to want to order that rear end gearing from that guy you know. Get on aim

Re: Just kitted my vespa ciao

sounds about right, same experience with my variated polini tfr, did you split the case and open up the intake to 13mm too? it's actually even smaller than that stock, bore that out like it says in the wiki to make full use of that carb and it should get the engine spinning faster, other than that you have to change the gearing.

Re: Just kitted my vespa ciao

yeah sounds like the gearing is holding me back

i may get the side carb with my stimulus :)
