fabbing a 19 mm intake

i need to fab a 19mm intake so i can mount my new 19mm dellorto on my 65cc metrakit. i was told to try and use a stock puch exhaust pipe header piece for this . . . but it looks too narrow to me, like the exhaust header looks narrower than the carb's throat.. am i crazy? if not: what's another good way to make one?

Re: fabbing a 19 mm intake

it works. it might just look smaller from carbon buildup. go buy some calipers for ten dollars and measure it for yourself if you're not sure.

Re: fabbing a 19 mm intake

there are different puch headers, but i'm pretty sure the smallest one is 19 mm.

Re: fabbing a 19 mm intake

ok. i believe you guys then - i'll get to filin'. has anyone mounted the non-clamp-style one though? that's what i have. the dude told me to use radiator hose and regular old hose clamps, but i'm worried it'll vibrate like hell if i do it that way.

i'm assuming you have the spigot mount then? i ran that exact setup and it ran like a charm. get radiator hose that fits snugly over the header, and then heat, lube, and massage it over the thicker throat of the carb...it'll be a little tough getting it on there...but you'll have the nice good seal that you bought that spigot mount for.

Re: fabbing a 19 mm intake

that, and the $15 i saved, lol. thanks for reassuring me . . . this shouldn't be too tough at all.

now, where to find an estoril . . .

Re: fabbing a 19 mm intake

treatshq on ebay is where I got mine.. good price and fast delivery

Re: fabbing a 19 mm intake

yeah i shoulda got one when he had them, but now they are out

Re: fabbing a 19 mm intake

I know this isnt the buy sell forum but I happen to have an estoril that was only used for a couple weeks. I didnt like it as well as my tecno. I did paint it black with 1200 degree paint. It looks pretty good. make me an offer. I can get pics of it later if you like.
