anyone have any performance parts for a minarelli reed valve motor? Looks like a minarelli V1 with a reed valve in the crank case. The cylinder looks like a morini reed valve.

Wouldn't a Polini cylinder kit work on that crankcase? All you would have to do is blank off the inlet port. The transfers should be the same. See if you can get a Polini base gasket to see if it matches up.

If you're still using the reed intake, blocking off the kit intake, and the transfers are the same, what's the difference?

reed kits (aka peugeot/MBK) have a sweet third transfer port instead of intake

I was thinking the other way around...blocking off the reed intake when using the kit. I have been told it will work if you block off the port intake on the kit, but wouldn't you lose some compression volume since the intake port would essentially be a dead-end tunnel that branches off of the cylinder wall?

Yeah I'm not sure. It still seems like a fun setup to experiment with though. Actually that sounds like the perfect playground, once you get your reedvalve kit. You could try with reeds blocked off, with case reeds and piston port blocked off and the reedvalve kit and note all of the differences. :) I'm jealous.

I really hope '77 has them coming in. Dan said that he would try to get them last year, and I called those guys EVERY three weeks for 6 months asking if they had come in yet. South America likes to squeeze North America's balls. I just gave up and made due with normal Minarelli stock. If this news becomes reality, it would make this little girl vellllly happy!

Just for giggles, I've tried to run a booster-ported piston from a v1L on a bored v1 piston-ported cylinder...it is a total failboat. It changes the port timing and doesn't leave enough stroke to properly compress the fuel/air mixture, making it bog and flood. Shoulda seen it coming, but I was just in one of those "it might work" moods.

On a piston ported engine the inlet port is only open when the piston approaches the top of the stroke. But you are right that having the blocked off port open might reduce your effective compression.

he goes meet brn and ev on wed..:) i got gaskets reed valve kits coming.. cdis.. btw the peitcard is worst and cost the most.. go figure.. so I got another top of the line brand coming. I might do a section on the broncco mini bikes.. since its the ks model. I have garelli transmission and fan cover and some more shit.. angel I will give you a list. There money is very poor... so I can buy alot.. but no one is selling!.

Thanks, already have a 7 port 51mm from you, another 5 port 51mm and a polini 75cc kit. Also a piston port to reed valve conversion for my morini and 2 polini kits for my reed valve morini bikes. Really need the kits for the minarelli reed valve and I am looking for a general with a C2 variator.
