Any idea how hot an e50 cylinder/crankcase get? I was thinking of painting my engine to pretty it up. Is 500 degree paint good enough to hold up?

use the 1200 degree duplicolor engine enamel.
500 degree paint will be fine.
Clear as mud. LMAO.
The 1200 degree paints are all boring colors.
I want to use a gunmetal metallic finish by duplicolor that's rated to 500 degrees, that's why I'm asking.
yeah...i know what you mean about the colors.
mattw used the 500 degree on his cylinder and it kind of looks like shit now. lots of flaking and peeling off. but if nick has had a good experience with it i'd say go for it.
won't that make the engine run hotter?
At where I work there's a laser thermometer.I took my commuter with a sachs 505 1/A around the parking lot and checked the surface temp of the fins and plug.It wasn't the best experiment and should have wrote down the results. The highest reading warmed up and reving on the stand was around 220 degrees F.I'll do it better on lunch break another day.
Oh and it was around 60 degrees outside
I don't know if you should should wash it with tri sodium phosphate before painting.Just a thought.
T.S.P is some kind of ectching prep.I think .Maybe do a google search on it or ask a paint shop about it.
you guys don't think the paint will act like an insulator? Cause I do happen to have a new kit I have yet to install....
