Getting the most out of an exhaust?

Having cut and brazed an expansion exhaust to fit:

and re-jetted with a 66.

I'm wondering what I can do to get the most out of it? ie. higher rpm and better acceleration.

I've been advised to advance the ignition and check the jetting. Any more suggestions?

Re: Getting the most out of an exhaust?

The more forcefull exhaust note from raising the compression seems effective. Gear down to get on the pipe earlier also

Re: Getting the most out of an exhaust?

Fully advancing the ignition has given more urgent, punchy performance. Drilling out the carb jet with a 0.7mm bit gives a more confidence-inspiring chocolate-coloured plug.

As it's a singlespeed, Gearing is a bit low, if anything.

I've heard mixed reports about head skimming...

Re: Getting the most out of an exhaust?

Would reducing the tailpipe diameter improve the low rpm torque significantly?

Re: Getting the most out of an exhaust?

Reducing the diameter and lengthening the header will give you better bottom end but hinder you top speed. try doing a little clutch tuning to get into your power band faster.
