should I get a custom intake?

so I just got a kit for my MO1 and a dellorto 16.16. Here's the problem:

the new intake manifold points forward instead of to the side. To solve this I either have to

A) Relocate the ignition coil, cut out a bunch of the footboard in the center and part of the cable housing attached to the frame so the throttle cable will fit.

B) get a custom intake to make the carb be where it's supposed to be....

So I can do all this fabricating for free or get someone to make me a custom intake. Hmmm, what to do....

Re: should I get a custom intake?

foot rest looks like someone added it........

why not do both?

Re: should I get a custom intake?

no, it's original. the ignition coil is attached to it.

Re: should I get a custom intake?

I was just doing some measuring and the intake opening that mounts on the engine is perfectly square. I just need to find a way to mount it rotated 90 degrees. I have no idea how.

Re: should I get a custom intake?

Go to a plumbing store. If I need to modify an intake or make it turn or do something like this I go there and play with the pieces. It is super duper cheap and works quite well.

Re: should I get a custom intake?

yeah but I don't have a welder and I don't want to lose any performance. maybe I can chop off the intake, leave the bracket and use some JB weld to attach some plumbing?

Re: should I get a custom intake?

WOW I'm ready to hear how it runs with a kit, can't wait. I would fab one and have a friend weld it up. Use some plate for the flange and exhaust for the pipe . Grind and weld

Re: should I get a custom intake?

I'm ready too. I just need to get some of the kinks out. I'm getting anxious.

Re: should I get a custom intake?

I got quoted at around $60.
