Belt for Vespa with Malossi multivar

Anyone have any recommendations for a belt for my Grande with a Multivar? Thanks!

Re: Belt for Vespa with Malossi multivar

4L410. I have a toothed one. anything 41 inches and 1/2 inch is good. I have a Dayco one that is made in italy.

Re: Belt for Vespa with Malossi multivar

i just put this on. I saw that you were in the market for 65cc kits. did you order one? i got the malossi from 50cc.nl. also got a simonini pipe.

Re: Belt for Vespa with Malossi multivar

I have not ordered one yet Mike. In the process of building my race engine...bought it for $12 from Kev...seized, rusty crank. Looks like I'll end up buying a rebuild kit and a crank to grind on, then 65cc or MAYBE 70 if I can find a machine shop around here for cheap. So 4L410...where did you order yours from?

I just tossed one of these on my peugeot 103, seems to be a nice belt so far....

Re: Belt for Vespa with Malossi multivar

if naz has good results in the long run with this funky adjustable belt, i plan to try one on my ciao. you have to dremmel the motor mount slots to fit the malossi belt on a ciao, so this would be awesome if it works out!

Re: Belt for Vespa with Malossi multivar

I went to a local Strauss Auto in philadelphia and got a 4L410. You can get them also at lawn supply stores. I also happened to get the italian one from angelo in italy with my 9.5 : 1 final reduction gears. They are both toothed and work great.

Re: Belt for Vespa with Malossi multivar

How are those 9.5:1's working out for you? What was the sacrifice in low-end like, and what did you get for it?

Re: Belt for Vespa with Malossi multivar

the gear ratio change has been a great improvement for me. Basically at 32 mph with the stock gears, my grande sounded like it was going working way too hard. Now it cruises comfortably at that speed and beyond. I felt like the gearing was quite a limiting factor in my top speed before but now no longer. I think i can go higher comfortably now (which is why i'm getting the 65 cc kit and simonini pipe).

The way it is now is fine with three 8.5 gs and three 4.7 g weights mixed in the multivar with stock...I get good acceleration (about what I had stock) with about a 38-40 mph top speed. At this top speed, I feel like I could go faster with more power.

Re: Belt for Vespa with Malossi multivar

I'd say so...I break 40 all day long with the multivar, 13.13 and a Leo Vinci. I'm thinking I'll get some at some point in the future; I bet I'll fly.
