My Garelli has good mid-top end, but is painfully slow off the mark from the traffic lights.
Has anybody had success in modifying a Garelli rubber clutch to bite at higher rpm?
What oil would be best to allow more slippage but still allow the clutch to hook up properly?
I may try turning my old, swollen clutch on the lathe to make it smaller, but if I go too far it may slip too much at higher speeds.

I have heard of people sanding their old clutches. Ive seen on preform first hand and yeah it bites hard, though while its still warming up it has a tendency to stall when idling cause the clutch still wants to grab.
What about changing the springs/weights??

i hand sanded my clutch.. and it works soo nice..
and i put fully synthetic oil in so it slips off the start then bites hard. but i still have to give my self a little push to start rolling

yes and yes.
it makes it slip just that extra much so it wont bite hard on the start. but once the motor gets goign then blamo your off.
and it also helps me on hills.. when im about to stall it starts slipping and keeps the motor alive. so i can just get off and walk beside it.
That may be my next mod then...
can someone explain this better? my moped is on the bench right now and i'm really looking to do this mod. you sand the rubber star thing? is it something about this part? I'm kind of scared of my clutch but lets do it!
