Is this pipe worth the $ to put on a 1979 Grande deluxe ? What will I gain over the stock pipe ?
Thanks,

Everybody says they suck but it does improve performance and sounds better. $100 though, is too much!!
There are lots of reviews of pipes on here, and in the Wiki, if you search I'm sure you could find far more info than you would ever need.
I heard there is a pipe that looks like the stock pipe but is a performance pipe. I was just wondering how it compares to the pipe I linked above.
Thanks,
Raz
Exhausts like that should be cheap.
Mini moto or Midi moto exhausts are similar and much cheaper.
Raz that pipe sucks! trust me, u might as well leave the stock pipe on there. go simonini for $10 more...f that polini long country
Cory,
I want a pipe I don't have to fab, but worth the $ . Bolt on ,change jettin and go. Is there such a thing ?
If so,got a link ?
Thanks,

Raz, check with Angelo Massimino ( you can find him in the owners directory, assuming he doesn't email you first...he's good about checking the buy/sell posts). He's in Sicily and has access to a lot of vespa parts for very reasonable prices, even after shipping. He secured for me a Leo Vince HM with Polini muffler that bolted right onto my Grande and bumped me up close to 40mph with a carb and airbox. Failing that, spend the extra few bucks for a Simonini. TreatsHQ on ebay has a large selection and can tell you whether you will have to give up pedals or kick on any of them.
there are a lot of options for vespa pipes that will bolt right on...get something simonini man, you'll haul ass
go look at my profile
I also have a super sport XL LTD like yours except it is a 1979 . Have you done any performance stuff to it ? What gave you the most boost for your $ ?
Thanks,
Raz
biggest boost for the money will always be a pipe. Plus it will compliment all future upgrades (carb and kit)
best improvement is a pipe. i made one for my garelli, then i took it off and sold it and the pipe. porting is actually the best bang for the buck, because its free.
my garrelli runs around 35 stock right now,did you get yours any faster with a pipe ?
Raz
garelli had a pipe, new gears a carb, and porting...prolly got to 40...put it back to stock and sold it cuz it was broken, and i couldn't figure out why
from my experience the pipe is ok on a variated vespa, the powerband is pretty high so not worth it on a one-speed tho imo, plus, you can get a better pipe for that much, and treats has those for cheaper too.
oh yeah, and the "pipe that looks like the stock pipe but is a performance pipe" is called the 'sito plus', search for 'vespa sito' or something there are reviews.
Yeah that polini pipe sux i have a simonini circuit its a midrange pipe to be able to give you a good analysis of what you need i would need to know more about what you plan on doing to your bike or have done other than just the pipe.
