Tecnigas next too LOUD

many thanks for all the previous posts explaining the benefits and how tos of new exhausts, rear sprockets, and upjetting.

I am so pleased with the 40 mph 07 Tomos LX is hitting after these changes, and though there are several steep grades along my daily commute, I haven't lost much of anything getting up them. And going down is wheeeeee

HOWever, this new exhaust is way louder than i expected. I can't find any leaks, but it sure is deafening. I plan to loosen the connections and reinstall to see if i can get it tighter but I'm just wondering if anyone that has this pipe can give an opinion of how loud theirs is? Or, any tricks to getting good seals?

Re: Tecnigas next too LOUD

it is louder, but not like the biturbo scream. i found that by putting two gaskets on, it sealed it better and was a tad quieter and of course performed better (no leaks). give it a try...it may do something or not, but won't hurt.

Re: Tecnigas next too LOUD

Seriously I prefer a loud pipe. Its a good way for people not to change lanes into you. Loud pipes save lives homes.

Re: Tecnigas next too LOUD

Maybe you're right. Third day i used it, i got sideswiped by a van. First time i've been hit -- hopefully last. Kind of ironic. Anyway,I think it makes me a wworse rider cause i cant' hear shit.

Re: Tecnigas next too LOUD

Something is wrong. Check your exhaust gasket. One gasket should work and two gaskets will give you problems in the future. The unipod intake should be louder than the exhaust of the Technigas pipe and a biturbo is louder than the technigas. Did you use a new exhaust gasket when you put the pipe on? If not, that is your problem because the original gasket is stuck to the original pipe and is almost impossible to get off whole.

Re: Tecnigas next too LOUD

I still call bullshit on the whole 'loud pipes save lives' thing. Ive been riding scooters and mopeds for 6 years, and really really don't buy this. Moped/scooter pipes are just NOT loud enough to make any sort of difference. PLUS you don't hear pipes until they are past you. Unless you are running straight pipes(which is a whole other argument).

Re: Tecnigas next too LOUD

expansion chambers are loud. wear a helmet and it won't be so loud.

Re: Tecnigas next too LOUD

lol, i think i heard that at richmond?

Re: Tecnigas next too LOUD

you would have....it's a 100 watt ambulance siren speaker with a 100 watt airhorn....hooked to a 12v battery. completely unnecessary.

Re: Tecnigas next too LOUD

chore boy or 00 steel wool, make good for good silencer.

you'll just have change out more often.

Re: Tecnigas next too LOUD

Steel wool is flamable. Watch out if you are using that.

Loud pipes save lifes:)

Raymond Wright IV /

my tecnigas isnt loud at all.

it has a nice little roar to it.

its not obnoxious sounding at all either.

Re: Tecnigas next too LOUD

Expansion pipes work off of back pressure created using sound waves. You wouldn't get that extra power without that noise.

I love the sound of a Biturbo, nice and deep....Circuit pipes make the worst noise high ping=yuck.....technigas' aren't that loud comparatively.
