I just want a ballpark...
How fast will a Puch 64cc Polini Reed Valve Kit make my 77 Maxi go? It goes about 26-29 on flat right now.
I know its different for every ped, but with the right carb set up, and gear ratio, what d'ya think?

30+
They can go over 40 with ease. But do that kit a favor and get a proper exhaust for it.
polini + 19mm dellorto + Tecno boss = 55+ when tuned.
if you have to ask you probably should go for a tccd or metrakit, polini is pro style shit.
Go metra, tccd has some base gasket spacing issues.
polini kit, with a bullet exhaust, and stock everything else (just upjetted) hits a SOLID 45 no problems (w/ a 120lb girl on it anyway) i think it's actually faster most of the time... but yeah :D
It's a good kit, just gotta make sure you have it jetted really really right, otherwise it might just shit on your face...
don't run a 12mm carb on that... no matter how you jet it you have to put at least a 14 on there. 15 preferred... i think the jet i put in mine is 94 and i only use synthetic 2 stroke.
i don't have a speedo though so i have no idea how fast it goes
Don't discount the 65 metra as newbie shit, that kit rocks it.
yes the metrakit rocks but it is newbie shit. thats a good thing. you can just bolt your old carb and pipe to it with great results.
hell half of the dumbasses out there dont even upjet, they run lean, but it runs at least for a while. the 65 metra has potential, yes. but even a batavus has potential under the hands of a high stage tuner.
for the last year or so i have been trying to recommend the metra over the polini to new guys and gals. and i will recommend it here too.
not that its impossible by any means to do you first build with a polini, gilardoni 80 metra whatever but basically the general rule is.
if you have to ask how fast its gonna go, you arent ready to build it.
you'll probably go 60....everyone else claims too...lol.
Word.
He won't go 60 for very long, Schlung :P
Getting a stable 60MPH out of an E-50 takes some serious work, even with a good cylinder to start with.
hey roald, where's that chart u made that one time with the cylinders, carb and exhaust combo's that gave rough estimates of speeds to expect from a puch?
there's something like that in the wiki too
thanks ryan...thats the chart i was looking for. roald posted that here...but my search yielded zero results.....
