Amal carb screws?

novice here. 17mm Amal carb has two screws, one for idle speed and one for mixture. I don't which is which! One is lined up with the throttl slide and sits higher than the other, more to the right. The other is lower and to the left, sitting on the lid of the float chamber. Anyone have a quick answer to this rudimentary question? Thanks a million.

Re: Amal carb screws?

One on the right: idle speed. The left: air/mixture.

Re: Amal carb screws?

if i remember right its the one that is lined up with the throttle slide it should have a nice sping on the idle one that will help if you find the one with the spring thats the throttle or just look inside the carb and tighten the one u think is the idle and if ur right ull see it poking through there. Hope that helps if i am wrong about any of this anybody feel free to correct me.

Re: Amal carb screws?

there is no spring on the idle screw, it is the one that is higher and to the right. Mine has a notch for a flathead screwdriver in it. The air mixture is the thinner, longer, lower screw. screwing it in enrichens it.

Re: Amal carb screws?

yeah i just looked at one of those carbs today at the shop and was debating if it had the spring or not thanks for the info tracy

Re: Amal carb screws?

Actually screwing it in leans it.
