So I just bought a 4 petal case and the variator it came with broke durring shipping. After talking to bidalot I was informed to get that part you have to buy the whole variator. So now comes the interesting part how do I make a new one ( oh and a dopppler er3 one is a completely different shape and won't work.
Also I would like to add that the bidalot variator is considerably lighter than the doppler if anyone ever wondered.

That is the option that I came to but I was looking for cheaper options. I don't have a clutch pulley right now so I'm in no hurry. I am afraid if I weld it it wil be out of balance and the weld might break when I am going waaaaaaaaaaa.....eeeeeeeeee(higher rpm sound) but maybe I would take out a Yuppie watching me from a nearby Starbucks
put a bead of weld on the other side as well

I thought about using defcon or something but there are weird stress marks from where it bent before it broke so I am a little worried about gluing it.
i could probably make you one pretty easy, take some more pics. otherwise i think Raz Barlow is a real machinist, he might be able to do an even better job... that would probably take as much time with making a jig and machining it after you weld it, as it would to make a whole new one, plus the new one would probably be like, infinity stronger.

Take it apart and bust out lots of measurements and photos. It doesn't look that hard to make one.

Got some pics I'll bust out the calipers tomorrow and get better measurements tomorrow. It is just a pieve of aluminum 8mm thick and the only three critical dimentions are the two smaller holes which hold the pads the cheeks hit and the center hole which is tapped.

I think 8mm plate stock is the ticket for making a new one I just got to get the dimensions.
Yeah, someone needs pretty much all the numbers if they are going to make one. You could also send one off or take one to machinist and have them make one. Something made out of a billet of aluminum is of course going to be much stronger then a cast part.
Actually, as long as you don't mind it being homemade looking, all you need is a flat plate with a big hole and two countersunk small holes. You can make that no problem.
have crackstar do it, i reckon, he's probably better at this/faster/has more time.
