I _really_ didn't like my 65metra puch + simonini. I didn't like it so much that I sold the simosimo, and just bought a Proma gp. The Simo pipe has some gnarly sloppy welds inside, and really isnt very well tuned, yeah it gives you lots of top end, but it's not a super awesome lower rpms pipe.
what problems are you having?
Brandon has a simonini on his bike (when its running) he will probally get
you a good starting point.
metra 80 has much more agressive port timing than metra65 right? Simonini might be a good match then. I put a homoet 6p on my metra65 that runs well(with an estoril) to test it out and it really ran very poorly with it on there. After reinstalling the estoril the performance was excellent again. I would put the piston at tdc and try to blow air into the intake manifold. If you can at all, you may have an air leak somewhere. You can blow smoke in there to help find it.
i am kinda bummed on the shitty welds of the pipe,i guess the handmade ones are better.ive jetted from 82 to 110.ill probably go bigger,we tend to need to jet bigger than yall on the west coast.and no air leaks
Simonini is great on a bike with a strong setup: bottom, mid and top killed the estirol's performance. There is nothing wrong with welds either, it's a stamped pipe, and it's of really good quality not super. Any Hand made pipes in america or Euroland better look of high quality! Profit margins in the states and the Dollar sucking the future of pipe are going to get a lot _Pricier_ I sold my metra 80, consequently I removed a lot crankcase volume though and i learned to hate piston port: jetted in the mid 80's
brandon, have u looked into the header of a simonini pipe there is a huge fucking weld starring u in the face thats basically a giant restrictor. it makes the header more restrictive than even the cheapo puch pipes.
to properly eliminate it u would have to grind it away then reweld the pipe from the outside of the exhaust mounting flange or just make it way better quality. i dunno. techno boss is better.
These HUGE weld...I had everything handy, yes there is a weld there. diameter is huge on these things none the less, maybe around 29mm. That pipe has had a dremel sanding bit in in for 10min The only reason mine isn't is perfect because i was in a rush to use it. But this thing is far from a complicated mod or is it even more restricted compared to anything else made for a moped. so yes when you clean up your case yeah spend a minute on your pipe. Just call it moped life, this pipe is crazy good compared to everything else and i've tried everything. If boss (4p clone) works for you good keep it, just like there's far superior reed kits to polini like gilardoni and ajh athena. bottom line is for the money, mods, performance i would say it's one of the best, go look at Euro bikes if it's not a custom pipe it's a simonini!

"go look at Euro bikes if it
ok,i made my way down to a 88 and im still four stroking.i have the needle all the way down and the mixture screw all the way in.i dont have anything in between 84 and 88 so im going to the 84.i feel wrong having under a 100,i was running a 110 with this pipe on an athena
from what ive read on here, the metras run low jets for some reason
it doesn't really matter what kit used whatever jet, this is a lousy piston port with no reeds, no boost ports :(
a lousy piston port that goes 60mph!!!! whoaha!!!
What greased your wheels? so what 60, i'm sure there's been stock 50cc cylinders go over 50. And full rpm's are the only slight advantage over non reeds kits it has. Some peoples results gives you "standards" that just give people confused ideas like the simonini i guess you claim sucks because it doesn't it doesn't look perfect, coming from a guy that opeded up the has a polini and has opened up the intake:( piston port and iron is tech from 30 years ago please... so yes go read the "bible" again to refresh your memory on nikasil and reeds. well what you got to say about the simonini my evidence is in pictures for everyone to see. I'll represent, my Austro last night isn't even an amuse bouche for what i'll be packin
You lost me. I was following along. But that last sentence and or paragraph got me. I have no clue what it was you we're trying to say.
"my Austro last night isn
amuse bouche: literally, "(to) please the mouth"; a small, light, appetizer eaten a few minutes before a large, heavy meal is served, in order to stimulate the appetite.
He lost me way before "amuse bouche". That just iced the cake for me.
amuse bouce, is a secret treat reference !
he is saying that his austro isnt even an appeteizer for what he'll be packin
but as far as im considered its still a puch. a high end puch setup wont touch a high end peugeot or even motobecane setup
i disagree....my high end puch would do some damage, unless your using a kit thats over 80cc's, but no one believes me on MA :( so i'll just stop right now. =) peace.
i should of said serving amuse... lol how are mopeds and drinking so hand in hand haha or drinking and mopeders or moped... let's just say alfi, 3 horses, and peter'r just go look in the trader joe's beer isle! whatever i'm lookin for serious speed and after the netherlands maybe i'll come see you babooze listen to mp3: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Real+Men+of+Genius+-+Mr.+Moped+Souper+Upper++&btnG=Google+Search
thanks for steering this thread in another direction.i still run shitty at low rpm's but i have some power at 1/4 throttle.ive changed idle jets from 35 to 50,played with the mixture screw and put the w7 needle in any position, but it does best all the way down.....and im running an 84 main
i have a 80cc parmakit that's running a 32idle jet and seems to be still a little rich, had a 35idle and was way too rich, with the 32idle runs way better but i think 30idle would be perfect.....i think these piston port cylinders don't need big idle or main jets
i'm also using a w8 needle
is your timing set proper?
also consider changing the position of your mixture screw
