well, as i look at these other options for power..i've turned to scooter shyte due to availability. whats everyone whose a good tuners' take on going this route?

these joints are expensive to say the least...but they are rated for 50cc-70cc engines, so i'm wondering about modifying these....are they going to outperform what we can get our hands on? cuz if so, the extra coin could be worth it.

Re:

what kind of bike is are you wanting to make a pipe for? most mopeds have a wide variety of pipes available, you just gotta look over seas to find them. it's probably cheaper to import a pipe than to buy an expensive scooter pipe and hack it up.

Re:

this is going to go on a maxi that i got lying around...the thing is this seems to be along the lines of a jolly moto or something, but it's $200 and stateside....something like that from over seas will cost me upwards of $367 so idk man...it seems that if we start cloning stuff like this, we wont need to import as much ya know? some of the shops start making stuff like this

Re:

when i said "like a jolly moto" it has similar dimensions....i was IMing someone who measured it....the stinger is longer on this than the jolly, but the chamber seems to be similar

Re:

eric sabatino made this pipe out of a scooter pipe. although it was probably not made for 50-70cc bike he had it on a 62cc malossi kit and it worked great and it sounded like a monster. he works at a scooter shop though and just used one laying around the shop.

Re:

we've been playing with scooter pipes for a while down here. We buy them broken from the local scooter shop, guy charges about $20 a pop. seems scooter guys like to pretend they own dirtbikes, and end up smashing the header. hack it off and weld up a moped header. I've got a leo vince ZX, handmade on my 75cc VIP, fucking rips. it's 6 stages in diffuser and 2 in baffle, stuck on a long ass header. One thing to note though, most of the lower end scooter pipes are for otherwise stock engines. with original length header, according to the scooter shop mechanic, they're usually tuned for between 6-8K, where the stock cvt's apparently like things. totally worth it, just don't buy new ones.

Re:

good deal...a guy that worked on cars with me from back in the day can help me with making the headers for peds. i want to kep the header diameter...but i guess i can play around with the length. appreciate it guys. i saw this one in a shop for $200. hopefully someone will ride around on it, and tear it up, that way i can use it for myself..lol

Re:

just ask the guy at the counter if he's got any busted pipes. or carbs with missing parts. or wacky smashed clutches. or whatever else you want. hell, he might even give some of it to you.

Re:

good suggestion man...i'm going to be on that later on this week
