Camfering ports

what exactly is this? Is it where you put a little ange on the corners of the ports? But wouldn't that change port timing just a little? Thanks

Re: Camfering ports

Just a really tiny one, man. Like with sandpaper. You just want to get rid of the sharp edge.

Re: Camfering ports

OK thanks, that makes more sense. Just smooth it out. I'm planning on pulling my 65 MK off and opening the transfer ports on the block a little and I'll do that at the same time.

Re: Camfering ports

The stone ended dremel tools will round out the nikisil edge

Re: Camfering ports

round off the top and sides of the exhaust and transfers but not the bottom edge you want to keep that more crisp

Re: Camfering ports

what benefits does this give?

Re: Camfering ports

craig you beat me to it. I would like to know also.

Re: Camfering ports

keeps the engine from eating rings.

Re: Camfering ports

Extends ring and thus cylinder life by a bajillion percent.

It eases the ring back into the groove instead of slamming it back.

If this action were a sound it would be like 'swish swish swish, vs. SNAP SNAP SNAP'.

Re: Camfering ports

I just put a 65MK on, and the ports were nicely chamfered at the factory. So unless you're enlarging them, I don't think you need to bother.

Re: Camfering ports

Uh, I'm going to go ahead and say that MK has NEVER chamfered ports at the factory on ANY of their kits.

Re: Camfering ports

You can round off the edges on your rings also but just a little please.
