Would I risk seizing at all if I broke in a 65cc metrakit on my maxi using a 12 bing carb and stock pipe? Should I move up to at least a 14 or would the 12 provide a good enough gas/ratio if it was jetted right.

no. the reason that people seize kits is because when they are brand new, the piston to cylinder clearance is very minimal. As the kit is broken in, the rings wear down the sharp (microscopic) ridges on the cylinder. But if you run the kit at high rpms it creates heat. piston expands. gets stuck in cylinder. if you run a 12mm carb and stock exhaust, the only thing that will happen is your kit won't achieve maxiumum power so it won't rev as high which means less heat. I'm not saying that you should run it WOT for miles and miles, you can still seize with that set up, but far, FAR, less likely to.
TaylorN.
And one of the ways that is possible is by RUNNING OUT OF GAS! Don't let the tank hit Reserve during breakin, keep it topped off all times
Seizefest 08!!!! Sell it to me. Or man up buy a dellorto and actually use the kit.
Breakins effect how well the rings seat against the cylinder wall, not whether they will seize or not. Engines seize when they overheat, and get hot enough to break down the oil and lose lubrication. They overheat because of a lean stoichiometric ratio, advanced timing, overly high compression, or insufficient cooling.
You might have trouble getting it tuned properly with a 12 bing and stock pipe, but that's missing the main issue. You don't want to break it in with one setup and then change it, you want it to wear in to the range of use you'll be riding on in the future.
Don't worry troll the kits going to get used. You know I will get the shit I need once I get the loot. There is no hurry here.
who is a troll?
the gas thing almost got me the other day. DO NOT LIKE
that's what the pedals are for
no no no J...if you run out of gas while breakin in a kit, you can sieze it, because there's no lube getting into that shiny brand new cylinder, and piston duders..and thats just no good
oh, sorry i thought that was just a joke. wow, huh will bear that in mind . . .
hehe, yeah. its an unknown thing that can cause some serious damage, i'm glad i could help J
