A35 jug on an A3?

We finally got this A-3 running after realizing the oil pump blew and the rings were completely shot, so now the owner of the bike is looking for some more speed.

two quick questions:

can the a-35 connecting rod go in an a-3 crankshaft to get a 12mm wrist pin?

can the a-35 cylinder go on the a-3 piston and case?

i'm thinkin' the cheapo way to tune this bitch would be to port an a-35 jug and slap it on there with the old piston.. any thoughts?

Re: A35 jug on an A3?

i was wondering the same thing use the old piston with new rings

Re: A35 jug on an A3?

port the a3, make a manifold et a 15mm carb and a tecno estoril, weve got an a3 that goes 45, and gets there fast

Re: A35 jug on an A3?

Ha!

goddamn i love you guys. we have an extra boat anchor to try this on, i shall get to it.

Re: A35 jug on an A3?

I saw on one site where the A3 rod could be reamed out for a 12mm pin. Not sure there would be enough material left on the rod after reaming it out.

Re: A35 jug on an A3?

anyone know if the 15mm intake that 77 sales would fit an

3-a, i'd love to get at the carb with out taking the motor out.

Re: A35 jug on an A3?

the part that gets in the way for me is the metal piece that has the engine number on that. grinding that down should give enough clearance to wiggle your carb out... should.

I haven't done that yet... I need to get it running right first.

really wtf were they thinking?

A35 jug on an A3?

could the a35 rod be put onto the a3 crank?

Re: A35 jug on an A3?

yes, and the 10mm wristpin bushing can be reamed to 12mm

🇮🇹💦 Of the Loin /

also you can remove the carb without removing the engine.

at least i could on an a3 bullet

Re: A35 jug on an A3?

that is surprising, doesn't look like there is enough meat in that bushing to do it. first we'll port the A3, run it till it blows up, then we'll bore the bushing and try the a35.

Re: A35 jug on an A3?

you can actually press a puch wristpin bushing into the tomos rod, or just ream the tomos bushing, or get an a35 rod kit and put it in the a3

Re: A35 jug on an A3?

oh man, i am jonesin' so hard for my new egg-shaped burr to get here so i can get to this.

Re: A35 jug on an A3?

that sounds like the easiest solution just use a puch bushing

Re: A35 jug on an A3?

i'd rather use tomos and keep the bushing OD (the amount of steel in the connecting rod) the same, just make the bushing super thin. there is no need for it to be that thick.

Re: A35 jug on an A3?

could you put the a35 speed kit 64 cc on to the stock a3 crank? and not have to worry about reaming anything out?

Re: A35 jug on an A3?

graham, the OD of the puch bushing is the same as the OD on the tomos, the ID is different, ream it, or change it

Re: A35 jug on an A3?

I couldn't find the post, but some time ago I had posted an idea/theory that might work. My idea is to add the port windows to the A3 piston and then run the A3 piston in the A35 jug. That would be easy to modify and if it doesn't work or you mess up your only out a piston. I think the stock pistons are the same other than the wrist pin and ports. Care would have to be taken to get the ports in the right place but otherwise it should be way easy. I'm lazy so I haven't tested it out yet.

Re: A35 jug on an A3?

pressing the bushing is just as easy, but if you didnt have the capabilities, they absolutely

Re: A35 jug on an A3?

i've got a full machine shop, new bushings for everyone!

Graham, what's up with new bushings for everyone? I will trade you for a clear flywheel cover...

eh? eh?

I need a 12mm wrist pin for an A3 stat. Is the puch mod easy enough, because I have an extra puch crank laying around. otherwise, help me out yo cuz I'd prefer it be new and snug.
