vespa grande kiting

i have a vespa grande i put a 65cc polini kit with a 13mm carb and high flow airfilter and i am topping out at 20mph whats wrong? i was going 35 stock.

Re: vespa grande kiting

ooh burn!

do you have a pipe on there?

Re: vespa grande kiting

just the stock pipe

Re: vespa grande kiting

did you jet the carb?

Re: vespa grande kiting

the 13.13 comes with a #66 jet which will be way big with no pipe.

Re: vespa grande kiting

ya and im at 63

Re: vespa grande kiting

is the kit broken in yet? that still sounds big, stock is like high 40s, how are the plugs looking? the pipe just does not let that jug breathe, and the mis-matched overlapping transfer ports don't help either. still, you should definitely be going faster, something is up, maybe a leak? If not downjet.

Re: vespa grande kiting

The plugs looking fine, but it feels like it has no lowend power also

Re: vespa grande kiting

downjet

Re: vespa grande kiting

ok i will try that

thanks

Re: vespa grande kiting

yeah, i'm in the mid sixties and that is _with_ a pipe (same setup).

Re: vespa grande kiting

what is a good pipe for this setup

im thinkin about getting one

Re: vespa grande kiting

simonini are nice. proma circuits are amazing for midrange if you can find one.

Re: vespa grande kiting

Yeah, you are killing your new kit right now running with that 66 jet. If you read the instructions they say (I translated from Italian) 52-56 jet depending on your altitude and motor conditions. Then you jump to 58-62 with a new pipe, and check the plug after a while.

Re: vespa grande kiting

In FL, my buddy is running that kit, carb, and air filter... plus a polini expansion pipe.

He has a 60 jet in it...

Re: vespa grande kiting

^^^ Jcampbell speaking the truth, with a polini pipe hes running a 60 jet so without the pipe we are talking 56 probably. Also, as far as I remember there is a restrictor in the stock airbox, do not use it with the new airbox, you probably didnt but just incase. And get a pipe, your engine is taking huge breaths with the new carb/filter and cant breathe out, that causes serious backpressure...

Re: vespa grande kiting

just gunna throw an unrelated porting question in here when you bore the intake on the vespa case to 13mm what is the proper procedure for not fucking up that little square part. One of the members of our branch is doing it to her ciao.

Re: vespa grande kiting

It's in the wiki.

Re: vespa grande kiting

i jetted the carb and im still having the same problem, theres no power, im at 57 now

Re: vespa grande kiting

i hear vespas make poor kites. but i've never tried to fly one.

Re: vespa grande kiting

how many miles on this kit now? even if it's not broken in yet something is up. try it without the exhaust maybe its THAT restrictive, is it cloggy?

Re: vespa grande kiting

hows compression?
