the wiki tells you how to widen/ enlarge the port windows on stock moby cylinders... i was always told that you cant cut a chrome plated cylinder as it would chip the chrome.... i'm confused now, any thoughts?

motobecanes follow no rules
You do it abrasively. Don't cut, Grind.
Yea and don't do too much I just did it not following the instructions closely enough and my moby has no lowend now.
Jimmy, I'd do everything else (transfer ports, bigger carb, performance pipe, etc.) before messin' with the ports inside your cylinder.
Did you read Smitty's porting guide on the Wiki? Make sure you do before hacking away.
moby motors r'nt supposed to have lowend, you have to make it up in the variator setup, if u read the wiki porting closely (or at least the original article) it says to run 2 balls in a 4 ball variator as well, since we all have 3 ball variators u could run 2 balls in the 3 ball or get a replacement back plate that makes the 2 balls symmetrical.
or a malossi variplus, hella worth it.
my yellow bikes motor setup without the crazy transmission had trouble out accelerating 1 speed puch polinis, it was engineered for higher rpms not torque.
o and mopeds follow no rules.
Well i have a 15mm dellorto intake (gonna bore a 14/12sha soon) and a variplus. I was just wanting to do alittle port work, anything to help with power.
I've just been working on the piston, i havent messed with the cylinder ports. I was told to never cut alum ports
