The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

So....for all wondering....here's the deal on this pipe.

Having ridden a Doppler too, I'd say these are almost as good. Remember...it's not the shitty Cobra. It does come restricted, like all Leo Vinci's. HOWEVER....it appears that they know people are going to tear that shit out, so they only have one tiny, weakass tack weld. You'll need a 1" bit and some good cutting oil. 5 minutes later, you past the holding weld...just grab a flathead and punch it out! CAKE!

This thing, like the Doppler has a tremendous powerband at 25-30 mph. I haven't really given it the full go because my Malossi kit is brand new....gotta take it easy. But, WOW....it really goes. Felt like my Estoril. Nice. So...to everyone who can't find a Doppler, go for this one....it's great.

Re: The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

Where did you buy it from?

Re: The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

looks good

Re: The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

i'm happy someone finally bought it and talked about it. everything i'd read about them said they were decent and i'm glad to know they are.

Re: The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

oh, while i think of it, is the muffler restricted like i thought it was or is it just straight through?

Re: The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

Nope - muffler blows straight through. Probably could run without it, however.

I got it through Quarterkick. Cost the SAME as a Ninja G3.

Yeah...I'm all about it. Took literally 10 minutes to de-restrict, and another 25 to install because I decided to use a different bolt on the bottom of the swing arm mount.

Re: The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

Nice to see you can keep the stand. No stand with the G3. How about pedal clearance?

Re: The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

What's the difference between the Round Arm and Square Arm versions?

Re: The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

that looks good. so its as much as the g3? how does it compare?

Re: The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

🇮🇹💦 Of the Loin /

i dont think its got as savage as a powerband as the doppler, but nice to hear its working out good sicky!

Re: The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

Quick question, it looks like you might possibly be able to pedal and keep the center stand or is it just the angle?

Also the difference between the round/square arm versions is the swing arm mount is setup for square (like above) or round (like a 50v)

Let us know how it holds up after a few months. If it is built to last I might buy one down the road .

Awesome review, cant wait to hear more about it. To me though, it looks a little dinky compared to the ninja. But who cares as long as it performs!

Re: The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

one of the creatures bought that pipe at the same time i bought my 1st ninga g3 last year (creature zeke), we compaired the 2 head to head on stock cylinders and malossi cylinders, the ninga had a better top speed in the end.

You can't keep the pedals they hit hard.

Watch out tho, since it was not designed for USA mobys or av7 motors (witch sit at a differnt angle than av10's) the angle of the rotating joint relative the rear mounting location is not optimal and can cuase it to force the joint in a direction it does not want to move when the motor variates, and eventually causes the cylinder exhuast port to become stripped.

this is true for all the expensive AV10 pipes however all the other designs use a more adaptable ball joint that just bairly has enough range so the stress doesn't travel into the exhuast threads, while the leo pipe does not.

At least that was the case on the 50v frame he tried it on, and it indeed did strip out his stock cylinder and then his malossi kit, i can't say it was all the pipe tho, since i did not install it personally. now it sits in the corner of brets garage.

Also since ur using the pipe on a 40 frame it might function more correctly, just make sure the pipe's moving parts are all functioning within thier limits and not stressing the exhuast port threads by having a friend hold the bike and manually variating the motor with your foot or hand on the magneto, watch for any of the moving joints to hit thier limit of movement and transfer the stress into the cylinder and flex blocks. if this is happening you can try and fix the problem by fine tuning the rear moutning location and the angle the pipe is swung around the outside of the bike.

Hopefully on the 40 frame u don't have this problem.

goodluck glad to see some varaitey

Re: The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

Yeah....Elliot is 100% correct (as usual when it comes to Mobys!)

So, the deal is this:

NO - pedals hit...but with a modifies right crank arm, about 1.5" out, it would work. Kickstand works PERFECTLY...which is great.

And....yes - this is a 40T...so the engine doesn't variate! In other words, everything is ROCK SOLID....all moving points are in a good spot with ZERO chance of moving. There is literally no stress on the exhaust port. And, honestly? My clutch is tuned well so it doesn't grab until higher revs (thank you Chris!) so I get nice take off.

Yes - Maitland is correct - the Doppler is going to run a little better - it's expansion chamber is larger and the header is bigger all the way around until the chamber. But you know? Having ridden both pipes.....and since this is on an UNVARIATED AV7....I have been very impressed. I'm actually wondering if I should have bought that Airsal kit instead for the Moby. Oh well.

Running a 16:16 SHA with a 19mm intake. Ported. 76 jet (probably can go to a 78 or 80!). It has 40 easy.....maybe 45 tops if I really tune things.

Pretty good!

Oh...and yes - the only difference between the 'square' and 'round' arm is the rear swing arm mounting bracketing. As far as I can tell, this pipe is MADE for the 40T. It fit so fucking well, I couldn't believe it. Maybe on 50L's it'll be good too.

Good luck everyone! Nice to know there are more options out there for the Moby!

I think there's a chance to order these right from Leo Vinci - but I dunno.

Re: The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

Good comments guys - since I'm looking for a 50V/AV7 pipe, maybe the Ninja might still be a better option. Hate to drop $212 if it's gonna have some problems with the fit at the exhaust port.

Re: The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

What is this mysterious restrictor?

Re: The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

Collin -

The restrictor is actually kind of funny. The pipe comes with a red tape label over it telling you not to take it off because it 'makes your bike illegal!' - LOL.

It is this small - about 2" tube that is tack welded onto the port end of the pipe. It has a SIGNIFICANTLY smaller inner diameter than the main pipe and port....like, 3mm all around. = SLOW.

So, you just get a bigass drill bit, drill down about 3/8" until you got through the weld (honestly, it's just for show, in my opinion...Leo Vinci KNOWS people are just going to tear it out!) and punch it down into the pipe. Flip the pipe over and it drops out!

Done.

Son.

Re: The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

sounds pretty good. ill take that all into consideration.

Re: The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

While we aer on the subject of restrictors has anyone ever taken off the silencer on their doppler pipe. The damn nuts are tacked on so I wonder if something is going on in there.

45 from a 50 cc non variated moby is damn good. Don't feel bad about getting the pipe instead of the kit, the kit needs a pipe to run like you want it and a kit doesn't make your bike look nearly that sexy.

I just picked up an orange 40 frame because they are sooo sexy.

Re: The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

Ya pipe before kit for me too.

Re: The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

🇮🇹💦 Of the Loin /

yeah tom to take that restrictor out of the doppler just hammer a screwdriver or a socket or whatever you want into it. The only restrictor is in the ball joint.

There isnt one in the silencer.

Re: The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

Tom -

I had the Malossi 62cc kit on it before the pipe...FYI.

So....45 is very possible. But I don't think it'll go any higher than that without re-gearing and a variator. In fact, I KNOW it won't.

I'm pretty happy with 40-45, though. I think Elliot is probably right that I'd have to be 100% sure that the moving parts on the pipe are perfectly aligned. I actually really like the fact that my engine doesn't move at all.

Re: The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

yeah i totally didn't even think that u were running a non variated setup, so u would have no issues at all with the pipe moving lol.

But definatly be careful and check everything twice when/if u switch to a variated system, just so u don't ruin ur kit ahhh!!

great to hear of your success!

Re: The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

fuck a threads

Re: The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

I just had my round-arm version of this pipe personally delivered to me last night by QuarterKick. Now that's service!!

The delivery man has this installed on his 50V as well to test it out. Need to lose the pedals (he even brought pegs for me) as well as the pedal chain, since the round arm version goes up above the swing arm. He said to make sure that it moves freely before bolting on hard, but that it works well.

There is just one little tack weld on the restrictor, I'll just grind that off and the restrictor pops right out. Looking forward to getting this on the bike in the next couple of weekends. Gotta finish up the Puchs first, then the Moby hits the table.

Thanks for the recommendation Ben. I think it'll be sweet!

Re: The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

Ben, I love your bike. Love it. Thanks!

Re: The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

so many orange 40's :(

Re: The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

Easy P-man, mine's Green. Yeah Capital G Green Green. ;)

and I'm keeping my fenders and square light.

Re: The Leovinci Moby pipe = NASTY

im done with orange, forceably
