Simonini-Athena 50cc Aluminium cylinder kit

Simonini-Athena 50cc Aluminium cylinder kit

Anyone use this before, is it worth the money, and does it make you go faster if so how much? Thanks

Re:Correction Malossi 50cc

how are you people liking this kit lol sorry

Malossi 50cc P12

Re:Correction Malossi 50cc

it like replacing your stock cylinder with a cylinder of the same size with better porting. it's a good stock replacement, but isn't going to do much as far as performance is concerned. thats a ciao kit, and a ciao gets fast once you get up to 65cc the exhaust port is just too small, and isn't going to go give you much of a boost.

Re:Correction Malossi 50cc

i think the malossi you have there is the one with the oversize exhaust port, select your pipe accordingly. And yes, these should give a good performance boost, sometimes they are more ported out than the bigger kits, because they are designed to squeeze as much power out of the 50cc as possible for racing in classes that don't allow dispacement increases.

Re:Correction Malossi 50cc

just by looking at the two kits it seems like that malossi was made in the late 80's early 90's and the athena is more modern. i would go with the athena.

Re:Correction Malossi 50cc

The ports on the Athena look very cool!

Re:Correction Malossi 50cc

yeah, I checked on moparts.tk site and that malossi has a 27mm exhaust port, the most i've been able to open the standard sized one is 19mm, i've done three, stock, 65cc, and working on a 75cc.

I like the simonini porting schemes, and it is aluminium, and standard vespa pipes will fit. I'd be interested to try a vespa cylinder with a bigger exhaust port though, would need the pipe that fits it from moparts too, or make one..

Re:Correction Malossi 50cc

only problem is that its a 10mm pin and i got a 12mm con rod
