i wanna see pics of disc close up and personal
i wanna see pics of disc close up and personal
serious..ive been wanting to see that as well. i would love to get schooled on disc brake set ups.
nate bandit has some.
i have my caliper and master cylinder i just need a disc on my wheel.
look at dangerzone's maxi. his proped has discbrakes
"wayne's maxi":http://www.mopedarmy.com/resources/mod/copperhero/
Is that a Tomos fork?
*working on my custom setup, check back with me in a couple weeks.
now that mosquito fleet has a genius with a machine shop, you're going to see some nutty stuff come from seattle.
disk brakes, for sure
That's the EBR disc brake and fork setup, isn't it?
wayne's bike has the plug and play EBR hydraulic front end, if i'm not mistaken.
nate bandit is running a tomos revival frontend.
most people just adapt something off a newer ped with the whole wheel, brakes, and forks all together. its easier and cheaper than tryign to build it piece by piece.
Look for my old post. I did a custom setup all the pic's should still be up.
check out my profile moped,i think its still the magnum
once it runs right ill do a big post on it
mb5 setup yea?
front and rear.80cc metra and soon to have better rear suspension, now its just the stock mb5 swingarm with 140mm shocks
My bike is totally a custom job but I used MB5 forks and wheels. I bought master cylinder and caliper from a 2001 KX60 for cheap off Egay and made my own caliper bracket. I still probably have about $150 in wheels, forks, and brakes though. Plus I bought new tires for $30, so all the stuff adds up quick. Still alot cheaper thna $300 for EBR setup. Nice to just bolt on though.
i have the caliper, rotor, line and control from a TNG scooter im still working on how to mount everything up.
Are you doing what I think you are doing, with the mags? It was fairly obvious to see when I first got my set of mags
as soon as I get off my ass and get more welding wire and it stops being balls cold out, my ssxl is getting a set. Got all the pieces, just need some motivation.
i would love to just grab parts off the newer peds but where do they sell parts? everywhere i look theyre selling them new. even resellers...
Alright, I finally have something to post in here.
I am working on a rear disk setup for a puch 5 star hub. So far I have machined the idle sprocket side of the hub to a flat surface. I have also removed the bolt holes on the disk since they would not allow the disk to slide down onto the hub.
The scribe lines you see on the disk are where the new mount holes will be located. I need to scribe my second cut lines 60
sweet, but those brakes will not last very long, on the bikes that there ment fore they were out really quick, gl though
It's a rear brake so it will not be used all that hard. That and the pads are cheep 14 a set.
I read the reviews and the newer pads c4's? seem to last much linger (2 seasons). I'll probably buy a set after these wear out.
now i see why 5 stars are so good, nice work ,thanks for the photos.
~c~
awesome. cant wait to see the front brakes, if thats the rear.
I have been wanting disk breaks on a moped for so long I think I might just go a bit over board on the front disk. What's the worst that could happen if I put too big a disk and too big a caliper on to a bike weighing 150lbs.... Going over the handlebars sounds like fun to me.
I forget who posted the bolt on ones, Paz maybe? I think this is the brake shown in that pic.
Yeah Paz - I guess this is the fun you can have - showing off your front-brake wheel stands!

Paz: That is one HIDEOUS looking setup for a moped... too much bracket.
I like the shocks though.
