PEUGEOT 103: CDI and polini variator

hi folks,

i've got a water-cooled 103 i'm trying to resurrect...

i need your help!

if you have the polini variator and/or the CDI units for the 103 (don't remember the brand off-hand), could you please scan the manuals for them? or direct me to an online link (can't seem to find one myself)?

much appreciated.

Re: PEUGEOT 103: CDI and polini variator

I have the Peugeot made cdi, but the manual is all in French so it mostly like will not do you any good. Questions?

Re: PEUGEOT 103: CDI and polini variator

yo lee has the polini variator shoot him an e-mail

Re: PEUGEOT 103: CDI and polini variator

lee's anus is leefungchowOG /

hey jay polini variotor is uber gay, and identical to stock peugeot variator.

Re: PEUGEOT 103: CDI and polini variator

The malossi variator is where it's at.

There's a thread all about tuning that CDI. It's pretty easy.

Re: PEUGEOT 103: CDI and polini variator

i'll take the scan of the french manual, please... i just need something next to me to look at while i put the thing together, and i don't have a computer in the garage... as long as it has an exploded diagram or whatever i'll be fine.

yes i heard the polini variator sucks, but that's what i have and i kind of want to figure out how it works anyway. i'm probably going to modify the stock variator and use that, but i just don't understand how the polini variator comes together, i.e. what is up with the holding plate?? is it some kind of cover that just fits over the stock one? am i supposed to cut off the weights from the stock holding plate and use the weird cover that polini provides?

also... what is up with the polini engine spring mount contraptions? at ;east that's what i think they are... i saw them on the polini website. what advantage does it provide over a stock one? the point is, my spring mount stopper adjustment thing is stripped, and i need a new one...

i got everything in a jumble of parts, already opened, been sitting on it for a year, moved it twice, and i had the manuals but i lost them to a french-speaker that i tried to get to translate. now i'm finally gonna do it.

lee, this is THE GREEN BIKE... from the SOMA pictures...

Re: PEUGEOT 103: CDI and polini variator

please?

Re: PEUGEOT 103: CDI and polini variator

Malossi CDI is where it's at for me. My 103 screams like a banshee. I still use the stock variator, for now, treats might be holding my malossi variator. ;)

kirk

Re: PEUGEOT 103: CDI and polini variator

oops need to do that scan sorry let me see if I can find it first :-)

Re: PEUGEOT 103: CDI and polini variator

kirk,

Hey does the malossi CDI have a fixed or variable ignition CDI box and what does the CDI box plug look like? Did you post photos of it? I picked up a adjustable CDI box for my stock Peugeot CDI it shares the same plug as a honda bikes it looks like. I missed the UPS man today who had it now I need to wait until monday :-P Oh anyways I'm attaching one of the 2 scans I did!

Re: PEUGEOT 103: CDI and polini variator

I would love to answer that question, but I don't speak italian and the manual is fully. But the cdi box is black with four wires, all stamped "ducati" mmmmmm. Almost positive it's fixed, there's no place to make a adjustments. I'll take some pics later.

She is wonderful though, I would never go back to points, ever ever.

thanks Benji, your'e my boy.

love,

kirk

Re: PEUGEOT 103: CDI and polini variator

thanks for the scan naz, this'll help a lot.

hey lil buddy levenberg, please answer my above questions... and if you have a scanner, scan me a copy of the polini variator manual so i can decide if i'm going to use it or not, or maybe go malossi, or modified stock.

Re: PEUGEOT 103: CDI and polini variator

I hate the polini tension spring. it pops out a lot, and you constantly have to fine tune the position of the piece that attaches to the case. Ugh.

I haven't used a malossi variator, but the doppler one kicks ass. So easy to assemble and tune. And it's anodized blue metal for that tacky look.

Re: PEUGEOT 103: CDI and polini variator

I haven't had any problems with my polini spring going out of adjustment. Though you could add a little extra brace for the rubber lower piece to lock it in some more? Anyways just my experience with it....
