i was wondering what advantage there is to opening the skit up and also can u cut the piston skirt shorter? what would that do?

shorter skirt gives you less weight to throw around the cylinder but also give you more piston wobble. opening the skirt will give you a longer duration for intake with a piston ported engine but too much will lower your primary compression by letting too much back out at low rpm so you have no idle. always put a bevel on the bottom of the skirt after reworking it so the pil can get to the rings and help seal them and keep them cool and lubed.
opening up my skirt and having it shorter would prolly give me something better to do on a saturday night then posting here all night.
what do you mean by putting a "bevel" on the bottom of the skirt? I'm picturing a u-shaped port between the skirt openings
If you machine the piston and leave a right angle then it scrapes the oil off the cylinder which starves the piston ring of oil. oil lubes the ring and also helps it seal and transfer heat. if you leave a 90 degree angle on the bottom of the piston you can get a seized engine.
so I must angle the bottom of the piston? it's practically 90 degrees in its stock shape.
