Just got my techno estoril installed on the Garelli! It fuckin flys! Way better tuned than the stock exhaust or even no muffler. Will post pics tonight.

Chad,
An expansion chamber exhaust is the best mod you can do to your two stroke engine with out an expansion chamber exhaust. It is a night and day difference, and that pipe is a good one. Enjoy! Oh P.S. mopeding is lonely in Nebraska. I did it for a year before I moved to Indiana. Good luck finding people to ride with! Enjoy!
Yeah it is lonely here. The only other person I've found is a guy in Lincoln that I bought the Garelli from. Sometimes it's nice just out cruising alone but I would like to find some people. I think I'm gonna just have to buy a bunch of peds and sell them to people to ride with me.
Can't find many in Lincoln? Go here:

On the right, start clicking on the People nearby. I didn't finish the letter "B", and found these fellows ped owners:

You are most likely not as lonely as you think!
P.S. I'm from Falls City - about two hours away . . . .
did you happen to notice the last login dates? lol i've already emailed those people and got no response
Yep. One year ago isn't that long. Heck, one of three was just six months ago.
The point was - you may not be as lonely as you think. Just trying to hook you up with fellow mopeders.
I want pics! And a description of the range, please.
where did you get your pipe from?
cole
treats hq ebay store! great guy! extremely fast shipping!!! Pics will be posted tomorrow
did you have to bend yours like he says you might? do you have the horizontal motor or the vertical motor? thanks
COLE
I didn't have to bend anything just cut the pipe on the end of the expansion chamber and cut my header pipe down then just decided where I wanted it and welded it. I also wrapped the header pipe in exhaust wrap to try and keep some of the heat out of the tranny case. Kinda looks shitty but I know the use lmao.
Here's the pic finally kinda shitty but it's cold out.
Oh yeah and if you play your cards right it even mounts in the stock location.
nice, nice.
i might be building one of these pretty soon, good to know your results. I've seen these run with two piece biturbos, anybody out there ever set one up with a tecno boss or bullet? How about a homoet 4p?
Graham, I've got a gently used Boss I'd let go for cheap if you wanted to experiment. That is, if you come to the Anderson Mini-rally this weekend...
hahahaha!
I set my garelli up with techno boss, I used the stock header, cut the boss at the start of the expansion pipe, and used radiator hose as a coupler. It seems to work fine for now, I was able to rig up the bracket to the original mounting location, its not bad. Should weld it this winter though.
oh phil, how i wish i could, you have no idea how much it pains me to not be able to go, but someone has to keep the other bikes in the gang running... if you still would sell that pipe i can think of a certain moustached pinto rider who would be very happy to get it. i happen to be (literally) flat broke right now.
So your pedals clear? How is your heel clearance? Do you have any problems hitting the chamber with your heel, or worse, hooking on the silencer tip when pedaling?
I am asking because I have been planning this for a while, and this weekend I cut up my tecno estoril. I fitted it up and now the pedals clear as planned, but it looks like I will have this problem. I put my boot on the pedal and gave it a go around and It would definitely take some practice to remember to hold my heel out. The distances look about the same as your bike, about two pedal arms from the crank to the exhaust tip, and my foot is definitely longer than a pedal crank. Does yours just not stick out as far as it looks?
I was thinking about shortening the stinger anyway, maybe sinking some of it into the chamber. I will probably cut a third of the bend off first so the silencer curves around the swing arm and sits like this /, then maybe another third to try it like \ sticking out a bit past the rear wheel. Maybe even almost straight out kind of like a bi-turbo will look ok, but I think I might have to sink the stinger if I wanna maintain enough backpressure.
Yeah he just sold this ped and i picked it up. I don't know if his weld broke or if he just never got around to it, with it mocked up unwelded the pedal just barely caught the heat wrap. Without the wrap on i think it might just miss. It would definitely be an ass pain if i were to pedal it though. I may just bend the arm out a good deal. It has been lowered and it is actually too low to the ground to really successfully pedal, the pedals are pretty much useful as a kick start. Good luck with your own, I've got some work of my own to do.
chad
what carb and what size jet are you running with this setup?
Oh and what intake are you using? I have 2 garellis with noi
motors. One has the squared off right angle intake and the other
the round (Better?) intake. Also do the minarelli ones on 1977
bolt right up.
I was thinking of doing something like this and any help as far as
what parts i should start trying to gather (assuming I can get a polini kit at some point ) would be great.
Yeah i bought this from him and as of right now it is not running (to much stuff going on...) I picked up a 15mm bing (only because it is what i am familiar with) and a 15mm puch intake. It is a squared of intake and it is going to take some grinding both at the bend and at the bolt holes to make it work. Also there is a clearance issue with the bottom of the bing carb but i think i am going to do a bit of grinding on the fins to make that work. I have not got around to jets size or filter yet because it isn't running. I have had the same question about the minarelli intakes, they look like they would work well but that would require me spending more money on another carb, something as of now i am not looking to do. Looking back on it i would pick up a dellorto if i were to do it again, but oh well.
Eric
so whats the latest on this set up
damn, i gotta login here more often
finally picked up a polini kit and a 16/16 dellorto.
I still need some kind of intake. i was drooling over those pipes
when treats had em. would it be blowing it id i put on the kit with
the stock exhaust temporarily?
damn I tell ya an estoril really made a diff on my puch lol Im so nvm
Yeah not much has really happened with this bike. I have a puch that is getting more attention right now(still unfortunately a small amount) I dropped a ton of money into a new bicycle and am trying to be relatively conservative with my spending. I think you would be prefectly fine with a stock pipe i mean there are the obvious benefits of an expansion chamber but in my opinion a regular pipe would do just fine. As for the intake i worked a puch 15mm to fit, the holes and the clearances were off so i had to make the holes wider and also grind off a bit of material at the ninety degree bend to get it to fit, it should work well. I also need to fix some small things and hopefully it will ride again, Best of luck with your kit and everything, hope it works out well.
Eric
Hey Guys, This is just what I am doing with my 1978 Garelli Super Sport. I have purchased the Polini 70cc kit, Dellorto 20mm carb and Intake and then I will fit the Techigas Next Pipe to this. At the moment I am blending in all of the Ports and had to open the intake so that the 20mm Dia had clearance to the engine. I am also going to adjust the ports in the cylinder after I come up with a plan. This is a big change from motorcycles for me and I have had a blast. But one question remains, what Main Jet should I start with?
Any thoughts out there?
im running an #82 with a polini and dellorto 16.16
Just to give you a reference point.
I would also suggest regearing your bike because the stock SSXL back sprocket is HUGE.
Andy
What size was your rear sprocket? My rallysport and supersport both
have 32's on em.
was going to start a thread, but hell i'll just post it here.
Andy or anybody? Did you actually get any instructions
with your polini kit? If so can you scan em and post them.
All I got was some warranty info in Italian. Probably no
biggie but would be cool to see them if there are any.
Also, what if anything did you guys do to prep things before
bolting the thing up? Chamfering? Ring edges? I don't think I'll
be blending the ports or anything. Thats probably way to advanced
for me at this point. I would most likely screw it up and then be
bummed for weeks and weeks.. hahahaha
And a final question. I would love to here some break in polini stories. Stuff like. Well mine went really well and I did this as far
as prep and break in and i did this and my kit got screwed so
don't do that.
As with the next Reply, my rear sprocket is not huge? Maybe a 32 like the next guy says. I am away from the bike right now so I can not tell.
But if I was to change the sprocket what would you suggest and were do I get one?
I just saw your pipe for your Garelli and I love it! I just got a Technigas Next to adapt to mine, but I like the one you found better! Bummer!
